Sorry to ask so much as im a newbie to cb400..what if the fan does come on be before the red light does? from what i monitor, normaly the fan will turn on and then when i throttle, the red led will light up and then after moving off, the led will flicker abit then turn off..

When the fan is on..means that the coolant temperature has reach roughly 102 degrees Celsius and the temperature would ground (power supply to on ur fan) ur fan via the radiator fan switch (the protruding item on the lower left of the radiator). This is TRUE ONLY if your radiator fan switch is Honda Original which only has a single connector to it..if it's white or have two connectors..its for car use and temperature cut on for fan is different like 85-95 degrees Celsius. Ur description of the meter temp light is typical of a chiong meter...nothing much u can do.

Seems to be a common problem?

I've changed to a "chiong" tacho and the same problem keeps cropping up...

until I changed to an original (2nd hand) part...

Is it possitble to re-calibrate the part of something?

Cheers!

You have to change the circuit component/components..the question is which and what..best get the original unit circuit board and compare the piece part components.

Seem like my radiator fan switch is using those 2 wire type. .maybe that why the fan keep turning on often. .and btw, where does our high temp light sensor located at and is it possible to install a digital temperature gauge to it? Thanks

I'm not sure where but installing a separate temperature meter is possible making use of the original sensor. The red light when comes on means temp has reach 112 degree Celsius..by then ur reserve tank should have boiling coolant. That's why if no..don't bother.

Ah Pek,

Just to confirm some learning points.

1) if (extractor) fan "ON" means that temperature is at 102 degrees

2) if Temp Warning LED "ON" means that temperature is at 112 degrees

... is that right?

Cheers!

Aren't 70k km valve clearance abit too early ..?

It depends on the condition of the bike n ect..

Generally 100k km is a mark for that kind of servicing .. But If your bike can stretch further by the milage, good for u.. Mine did at 120k km as I felt its due as I Oso dunno e prev owner got wack/abuse the bike before & I frequent for trips up north.

Well it's a investment for the next 10year or so..:)

A friend of mine who's R6 engine have been abuse/whacked alot by him/ prev owner did it at 85k km

Got to know tat this Conrod bearing Oso gone

Well .. It all depends

Bro tomramli,

I've asked this question to my mechanic before a few years back...

basically the PB1/VerR/VerS can fit maximum tyre size of 150... (stock is 140)

and cannot change swingarm... same as the front - also cannot change.

Also, as far as I know, the difference is, PB1 comes with mainstand (only S4 version to have so as standard, until the arrival of Spec3 - even then only the bracket is available, stand sold separately), VerS comes with Brembo calipers as standard.

2nd hand part can be found at scrapyards, I heard of one name Ah Ahn, if I'm not wrong (I've never been there, though... gotta see if the S4 lao jiaos can reply to this)

Also, if you are patient enough, you'll see people selling in this forum...

Rectifiers, please please do not use 2nd hand.... buy new sets! :bouncefire:

Just my $0.02

Jialat....my moto:

-FN plate: 1996, ppl say around time PB1/VerR/VerS

-Got mainstand bracket, had one installed recently

-Nissin calipers

Maybe PB1??

-But bolt-on end can

-Petcock c/w reserve

Bro tomramli,

I reckon your bike is the outcome of when a verS & PB1 have a baby... wuahahahaha :cheeky:

I've seen a PB1 with FN plate, dunno about VerS - I don't think that there anymore VerR on SG roads?

I'm guessing you are riding a PB1? Cos I don't think VerS got mainstand bracket? Also, because yours has nissin calipers?

I think thats the defining difference between PB1/VerR/VerS... - VerS have Brembo?

Previous owner changed header and end can?

just my $0.02

When I DIY myself. I just tight to the point, I need to use quite a bit of strength to un-tighten it. I mean honestly, you see shop mech getting all enlightened and suddenly knows the specific tightness? :p

No lah...

Of all the DIY one can do on his bike, this is the one thing I have phobia...

my friend changed his eo on his wave, now the drain nut loose...

obviously he may have gorilla-ed on it a bit, but he assumed its better a little too tight than a litttle too loose.

now have to use a bigger nut. :pity:

I thought of getting a proper torque wrench for this purpose, hence that's why I need the figure...

just my $0.02
