I have questions Been w my ver s for for only a month. Was wondering if ver s has power cut? Because i realised it is so hard for the bike to go beyond 130. At 120 it already struggles to hit 130. Reason why i ask is because I've read some riders easily crusing at 120 and hitting 160 is also possible. Another question, I noticed the bike has no mid-range power. I can feel it especially when in gear 5 and sometimes overtaking can be slow (and paiseh lol). Is it normal? How do i fix these 2 problems. Advices are much appreciated. Thanks guys!

 

 

 

Get it check by a reputable mech..

 

Cruising at any speed shud not be a prob at all..

 

Wat more going beyond 160

My verS other then having poor FC problems. 18km/L. It have no issues hitting 140km/hr or higher. Still cant resolve my current issue sadly.

 

Recently I went over a super high hump at mustafa centre. Could that be any issue? Like puncture header or anything?

hi all wanna ask smthg.. i heard its possible that some version S have registered plate "FS" is it? they say some version S are made to look like spec 1. is it true? because i just bought an FS plate spec 1 from a shop and i checked the vehicle model it is CB400SFYJ. tell me i'm wrong? hope u can help me clarify!

Its been quite awhile that (in one way or another) I've read that our version of S4 having FC problems.

 

I've been reading and this is what I found:

could it be the timing chains?

 

any lao jiaos inputs? ah pek?

Actually I faced the same problem as u. Also max 120-130km/hr. Anything higher, I feel the bike stressful already. I also feel my mid range no good, I was thinking of changing the sprocket. My FC however is slightly above avg as some reports on 18km/l but mine is avg 20km/l

For me, I asked at least 3 motordiam including ah Chong regarding my bike's power but every time they said is ok, bike old liao, dun spend too much to do it. I do not need to speed at 160km/hr but at least the power should b there if I need it. Although I can insist the mechanics to do something abt my bike but to certain extend, I agree bike old liao, better dun mess around or more problems might surface

Cant be. Cause I just repair my engine and cub like 4 mths back. All still fresh leh

bro,

PB1 can cruise at 140++ kph, no problem... the only thing stopping me is that any higher, not comfortable (its a naked bike after all...)

when you repaired your engine, what did you do?

overhaul?

 

I think even top overhaul timing chain they don't touch/check?

unless full overhaul?

I recommend doing full overhaul if you have tried servicing here and there but old problems persist. Old bike is one, but it's a matter of how much care and servicing was given to the engine. Sometimes, it's a COMBINATION of technical issues that could cause the problems. Not a technical expert here, but just my two cents. Haha.

 

Overhauled mine, and my Ver S is really, really running smooth now.

After touching and cleaning my bike. This time round Fc at 21km/L. Seriously dunno whats wrong man. 1st pump 22km . 2nd pump 18km . 3rd pump 19 km. 4th pump 18km. 5th pump 21km/L

 

My VerS indeed has mood swing.

 

With normal riding only. Easy on the right hand too

Au5h,care to share how much you spend on your overhaul and what are the things the shop changed for you?like piston,block all change is it?

 

Basic things that will need to change for full overhaul:

1. Auto tensioner;

2. Connecting rod bearing (8 pieces);

3. Crank shaft bearing (12 pieces);

4. Piston ring set (4 sets; 1 piston has 3 different rings);

5. Gasket set;

6. Spark plug;

7. Engine oil + oil filter.

 

There's a couple of parts that will be changed, but I'm not sure what was it. This costs about less than $1700 including labour; valve clearance and carburetor tuning is part of overhauling also. But these parts changes are basic ones.

 

When I had my engine overhaul, there are other wear-and-tear parts that require some changes; coolant pipes, coolant cap, coolant pipe assembly, water pump etc. So total cost when I overhauled my engine, plus additional parts changes is about $2300. Don't need for a change of piston or engine block if they are in good condition.It was within my budget, and quite reasonable since I'm planning to stick to this bike until COE ends in 2018.

 

I'm glad I did the overhaul. When the mechanic opened up the engine, I saw small stones and sand inside the block and cylinder head. Shock sia. Confirm someone sabo my bike.

Paid $3700 for all the above + 2nd hand gearbox, radiator, gear shift gasket (so had to strip everything apart and pb1 full exhaust. Of course included tyres, brakes, chain and sprocket and brake shoes and discs too.

My pb1 was really in bad shape wen I got it.

Im having problem with my main headlight, It just cannot on.

 

Fuse still ok, bulb already change to new one, no bypass switch. but if I press the "pass" switch it can on, But on normal condition the light just off.

 

Any idea what could be wrong?

Maybe your lamp wiring got problem. Loose or something. Need troubleshoot using multi meter
