Im having problem with my main headlight, It just cannot on.

Fuse still ok, bulb already change to new one, no bypass switch. but if I press the "pass" switch it can on, But on normal condition the light just off.

Any idea what could be wrong?

Check the starter switch. Right side of the handle bar. Probably loose connection. Maybe you need to solder it.

Check the 3-pin socket that plugs into the halogen lamp. Maybe the connection not good? Can use a multi meter to check for connection. But first check the bulb if the coil still connected.

I check the cable from the lamp connector to the light switch at the left handle bar is still ok? If I press the "pass" switch the light will on.

at the high & low beam switch there's 3 cable 2 going to the connector but the other one I cant trace it where it goes?and there's no voltage on it.

While the "pass" switch only 2 cable one is 12v supply the other one goes to the light connector.

yup. The starter switch. The one that you press to start the bike. Not the on/off switch.

When you press the switch, it temporarily turns the headlight off. It happened to me once. I was able to trace it with a loose connection with the switch.

yeah most likely starter switch...happened to me once as well...go to planet they will give u an option of changing to a new or second hand starter switch assembly or u can do like me say no budget make sad face then ah chong will get his mechanic to take apart the assembly lube here lube there dunno wat else he do and its working again..

Hi guys, anyone can diagnose my problem?

When slowing down e.g. at traffic lights or in heavy traffic, when i'm accelerating again, a lot of times my engine almost stall. i'm not in too high a gear for the low speeds, so i'm thinking if my spark plugs would have anything to do with it?

:dot:

Spark plug, spark ignition coil (round box attached to spark cable), or cdi problem. Start diagnosis with spark plug. All ok then maybe carb dirty. The power is delayed when open throttle right? Had that before. Also check side stand sensor cos my bike died after riding awhile, lower side stand while riding then it came alive again. In the end disconnected the side stand sensor. Hahahaha

hmm, ok thanks for the diagnosis. i hope it's just the plugs or a dirty carb, cos my bike coe expiring in 2 years and there's really no point in changing cdi etc. worse to worst, i scrap and export the bike!

Thanks for the advise guys, I finally fixed the headlamp issue. first one of the wiring at the starter switch came off, I cant solder it back so I just direct connect the wire. second one the high & low beam switch also not switching properly, i take it off and clean the contact point.

Now I need to make a external switch for the head light so I can on & off manually.

2nd hand cdi from scrapyard abt $120. Plug and play. Just remove seat, unscrew the bolts at the tank, lift it up and u can see the black box. Unscrew the bolt holding it to the frame and unplug the old cdi and replace. Also just tell the scrapyard owner which s4 bike model cos vtec different from the non-vtec models.

I heard that adding a starter switch for headlight to switch it on & off will fail inspection...

can anybody, lao jiaos confirm this?

just took my superfour to Yong Peng yesterday but weather was so hot, so unbearable

i think overall, it's a healthy trip for my bike as usually she can only go up to 130km/hr in singapore, yesterday managed to hit 160km/hr. was happy with it's performance yesterday

when coming back, there were almost like 30 Lamborghini or more escorted by Malaysia police n all r singapore plate. i realised how many rich singaporeans there r yesterday

finally signed up for class 2 since i passed my class 2A in 1997, first practical will b this sunday. i have started shortlisting my class 2 bike, any bikes to recommend? something not too big, too heavy, too high, preferably not too ex. I just need a bike that suits singapore roads n can do a light touring in malaysia. I used "light touring" cos i will not be doing much touring frequently but if there is a need, at least the bike can still do it. in short, i love a all-rounder bike

wah bro where you taking your lessons? also contemplating to take up class 2 but thinking of going through the motions also sian. especially jamming on the circuit with L plates cars and 2b bikes on a hot day is no joke(CDC).

so im actually thinking of switching to SSDC as its sheltered so not that bad. any comments for SSDC, ie lesson slots are they like hard to book or something? or always full one like CDC?

about bike recommendation, i would suggest NC750x/NC700x, the bike is a reason i wanna take up class 2 also. good fuel econ, good storage space in front. add a box/side box is enough for you to go for a light tour. i think there is a bro in this forum who went up genting/cameron highland with his nc700x hence i think light touring shouldn't be a issue with it.
