Idling rpm ?

i forgot to mention..my idling is abt 1000 rpm. wen it goes over d hump, it will drop to 600rpm den stall. i noe its normal to stall wen d idling is too low.. however it didn use to be dis way..only recently.

Tried to adjust to abt 1.2k rpm, bt engine will still stall..though nt as often..

I'm concern because I do not want to increase the amount of dirt that the engine it takes.

More air flow is always better for an engine, BUT more airflow means more dirt. In regards to the air flow on high speeds is erelevant. What I'm trying to say is that, when the bike reach 300kmh its RPM should be around 10K-11k. Means to say that the engine has to be able to "breath" at that RPM regardless the speed of the vehicle. How abt if we have the 2nd or 3rd gear on and the RPM is at 11K, does this means the bike air intake is insufficient? If that was the case then no engine could had been possible to operate on certain speeds or relevant RPMs.

To conclude, when the bike rolls out of the show room has a speed tag of 300kmh. There is no any restriction from the manufacturer that you can reach such speed provided the air filter has to be changed or any other modifications needed. None as far as I know. There is no harm to the engine either. But lets see the K&N on that speeds. I think we both agree that the air pressure going throu the Air Filter is huge. Then let me ask you, is the oil on a K&N filter stays firm to the filter or is slowly "washed off" into the ingection system?

Let put our thinking hats.

Cheers

P.S.: Lets ride next month to Malaysia, unfortunately I will not joint this month as on 29/10 I'll in Shanghai for business.

hmm... howerver do you know that on a new bike there is oil all over in the engine.. the butterfly flap thingy ( that turns when u turns the throttle)it has grease all over..

i am also still learning....

u have valid points in your arguement . and at the end the bike is yours the owner is the own who decides what he/she wans on the busa. i just feel that u ar over concern over some issues, since there will always be oil and dirt in getting into your engine the airfilter issue is not a big one in terms of oil/dirt causing demage to the engine . so when selection of air filter , the air flow shd be an issue as well.

have a nice trip.. have not seen u at lavander for a while... cheers!! :thumb:

Aniway..to each his own.. mod or not, as long as its a gd buy to you..ur happy..dats all dat matters..

ive got a problem to share.. ive been ridin the bike nearly 2 yrs nw. but recently i feel that the bike is sort of losing power. also whenever i clutched in and go over a hump with gear engaged, my bike will stall. sometimes even after warming up, it will stall. ive tried increasing the timing but still happens.

mayb anione can advise?? Thanks. (im still learning..still newbie..)

intend to go for top overhaul soon.. roughly how much does top overhaul cost? ive been offered $800.

i'm not really into all these mechanical and technical stuff you mentioned. wat i can only suggest is that you bring your bike to HKL, look for Ah Jiang and tell him you need to do top overhaul. Mechanics that give you a straight quotation may not be reliable. cos you may not change everything. Thus, i think it is good to book in to open up your engine to check before concluding wat needs to be changed. doing the needed may save you some bucks. :thumb: hope this helps. :D

good to be here.. weather was really nice today in-spite of the rain predictions and I should have rode my bike into work but played it safe and drove the truck. Tomorrow though I will be on the bike for sure. May head out to the race track at lunch and give it a go ;)

Good morning everyone!

I would like to ask abt busa tensioner/timing chain...

How to know/detect the symptoms if it is going to spoil/loose?

Thanking in advance.

I thought a thought. But the thought I thought wasn't the thought I thought I thought. If the thought I thought I thought had been the thought I thought, I wouldn't have thought so much.

replace when servicing schedule is due (based on mileage)... don't guess and don't wait till got symptoms before replacing..

cuz when it fails you can say bye bye to your valves, head and pistons...

There's no replacement for displacement except for a blower

Check your service manual

I just checked the manual but didn't find anything regarding tensioner or timing chain... Service manual and owner's manual are different right?
