A tail pack would be good if you do not have so much stuff to carry daily to warrant two panniers. Also the panniers would make the bike fatter, harder to squeeze.

As for touring, nothing beats hard plastic (or aluminium) panniers. Imagine once you reach your destination, you just unlock your side panniers and carry them to your hotel room like normal luggage. Or if you pack your stuff properly, can just leave the hard panniers on the bike and just carry your tank bag with your necessities inside! Only drawback I can think of is that it can't expand like the soft panniers.

Just what I think only, I'm a newbie, dun flame me please!

Have used the exact saddle bags on my F4i when i went for coast to coast. The plus point is that you got lotsa luggage space. The drawback is you have to lug both (yes, they are quite heavy if full) whenever or wherever hotel you stay at. Plus, you got to be real careful with the straps for they might scratch your tail fairing paintwork.

as it is soft luggage and movable, it quite affect the aerodynamics of the bike when doing high speeds.

Got no comments on the tail back as never used them before.

just my 99 cents.. :cheeky:

yuan if u think of going for touring. a side bag will be better.

if u are travelling 1 up, the pillion seat can use to put up another backpack and cargo net ard it. (if u are going for long long distance)

if u are travelling 2 up. i am nt sure if ur pillion can "squeeze" into your rider seat. or she will be riding on u :p joking joking.

also if u are doing a local ride and if u nt so afraid, u can always bring a bike cover and cover up everything. but imo, havent see any on side bag while riding locally. i maybe wrong tho.

my .666 cent worth of comment.

sorry i am newbie too.

the side bag is very good choice, for me been using it for touring, no worry for pillion as able to get in as per normal, quite a big space for both person belonging (1 each for rider and pillion).

its also come with a rain cover.

easily fix on the bike too..

if u get a tank bag, 1 person luggage still ok, if 2.. and if u get a extention, u will get very uncomfortable while riding as got a big stuff in front of u.

tank bag for me is on daily use, which i able to backpack it and also serve as tank bag in both use.. mine is bagster.
