Guys, I intend to go Cameron Highlands... How to go ah.. hehe...

Route 1 LINK- Via Tapah. This is the old route going up to Cameron. Shorter distance but the route going up is sh*t. The road is a 2 way traffic which is quite narrow. Road is quite run down with occassion pot hole. Sometime you may catch truck or lorry doing "initial D" style of driving going up/down this route. Can be quite dangerous especially during blind corner where they suddenly dash out from opposite direction. Even on 2 wheels, I find it hard to overtake them. Even though this route is shorter, but the type of road makes it harder and longer to travel. So usually bikers go by route 2.

Route 2 LINK- Via Simpang Pulai. This is the new route. Very wide, winding route going up. But still will become narrow near the peak. But then it is a much nicer route to take. However the down side is, it is longer route. Around 60km more compared to route 1.

There are 2 "town" in Cameron. The main town is Brinchang where all the activities are at. The next town is Tanah Rata where there are some F&B outlet to be found there. For lodging, I will recommend Daniel's lodge situated at Tanah Rata. Backpacker style lodge. But dirt cheap. It cost around rm20 per person per night. But don't expect 5 star accomodation but it is just right for me. Details can be found here, LINK.

Actually I am bored at home so i decided to do this write-up.... just for the fun of it

:)

As my bike is 10 year old already(COE just renewed BTW ), i decided to change my radiator hose to some after-market silicon hose which i bought from EBAY last week - while changing the hoses (DIY) I noticed that my thermostat housing somehow out of shape (macam rusty like that) and my water pump is leaking (very little amount of coolant leak). These things worries me....!!!!

So today, I went KS motor and bought the below parts : Total amount spent $97.

Thermostat and Housing

Water Pump replacement parts - FYI a brand new water pump set cost $200+++

Below are the instruction on what I did.....

After the above replacement done,no more coolant leak!!! Not even a drop!!! Yahoo!!!!

P/s: Pictures I took from the manual - Next time I will take the REAL pictures if you guys would like more of these kind of write-up from me... Heheheheeee.... Sorry ya if I bored you with this long post.....:)

Its always good to share, if you really hv the time then maybe the real pics are even better.:thumb: This is the wear and tear part that needs attention fr time to time, esp bef gg for long rides, cannot imagine if it fails on the road, i almost got it once but it leaked at JB bec i was having pillon and the JB last hump was too high and i wasn't slow enough, burst one big coolant pipe and it was leaking big time. I had to U-turn back and abandon the trip.

Bro...Excellent write up!! I'm sure some bros here will find the information useful. Just one point to add, most corrosion which occur in cooling systems is due to the coolant. some people just add tap water into the system which leads to corrosion and lime built up and reduces the efficiency. The correct way will be adding products like "engine ice" or coolant concentrate with distilled water to prevent this.
