Hi peers,

am thinking of getting a ride with ABS brakes, however it cost more than non ABS,

so would like to seek some advise from bros who's riding a bike with ABS

on the pros and cons to justify in getting one with ABS.

Happy Vesak Day to all and thanks in advance

Institute calls on government to mandate antilock brakes for all new motorcycles

"The best motorcycle crash is one that never happens," says Institute president Adrian Lund. "Traveling on 2 wheels instead of 4 is always riskier, but our new research shows that antilock brake technology can make motorcycle riding a much safer way to get around."

takes the fun out of the riding..

and motorbikes are only dangerous when 4 wheelers dun look out for us on the roads..

OR over-confidence in your skills and judgment on the roads..

Stock is good...Choose your weapon wisely and enjoy it...you can have all the $$$$ to mod and in the end you can't make full use of it....

I had a ABS-Linked brake STX1300 and currently rides a non-ABS FZ1.

Cons of ABS:

- I never once had the ABS activated even during my many emergency stops on STX. So in a way, you might be paying for something that you never get to use.

Caveat: It could be that as a Hazard Oriented Vision instructor, I could detect danger well in advanced of most people and have decent braking technique.

- Cost more. It comes default in the later models of STX. For the FZ1, it cost an extra 10% of the bike. I didn't choose the ABS model because of the price premium, though I would love ABS to comes with the bike.

Pros:

- Peace of mind. Even though I never used it once, it sure feels comforting that it's there.

Even though I have decent riding safety skills and braking techniques, I will love to have all my future bikes equipped with Honda's excellent Linked Brake System plus ABS.

LBS is the system that automatically applies the front and rear brake for you when you press the front brake level.

To each his own. The question is how much you value your life?

Actually ABS is to assists in braking. It is not a safety feature. If it is, all racing vehicles must have ABS.

Braking & hazard avoidance technique can be learn.

Come to think about it...its quite scary to depend solely on ABS....what happen if it fails one day that you need it most. hehehe.

Well I guess we need to adapt to it. Sooner or later all will be equip with ABS.
