any ideas on a good-on-pick-up 2a scrams that is pretty durable in terms of doing jumps and stunts?

 

specs im looking for:

 

• 2 strokers (if possible)
  
• something that can tahan weekly insane off road circus act w/o falling apart..
  
• comes w off road tires (non motard)
  
• suitable for a shorty (height only 1.72) =((
  
• nuubie friendly! been riding on street bikes sport bikes cruisers but never scrambies..)
  
• parts can be found easily and is relatively cheap (ktm might not fall into this cat..)
  
• preferably non-keyless.. i tend to forget i chained the wheels..
  
• cheap insurance.. since i will be riding it only few hours on the wkends..
  

 

any guides?

So far, I have seen/known riders using the following bikes for riding motocross or freestyle motocross

 

2 stroke

WR 200

KTM 200

 

4 stroke

WR400 (i know a few friends using this bike to play freestyle/mx)

XR 400 (a few using this to play motocross)

 

If you want 2 stroke, 2a bike, i can only think of KDX 220 (old bike), KTM 300 EXC but i seldom see these bike in motocross, mostly for enduro/trail. in my opinion, 200, 2 stroke is good enough for mx or fmx. Power is there and light weight. Most of the road bikes that i see playing mx/fmx are WR200 or KTM200.

 

off road tyres, seat height all these can be changed or adjusted to suit you. but adjustment on ur suspension may compromise ur ride. Setting too soft, comfortable height for short people, but bottoms out easily upon landing.

This is a WR 200 doing freestyle motocross.

 

In my signature, below, I was riding a KTM 200. 1.72m is not short, I am only 1.56m.

icic... hmm... 4 stroke, i believe it's still possible. Last year, Levi Sherwood won the Red Bull X-fighter on this KX450F, 4 stroke.

 

I am not sure about the durability of WR400. never rode one before. But have to expect wear and tear will be quite fast if you ride it off road and play jumps often.

 

other riders tells me, it is easier to start off with jumps on 2 strokers. have you considered 200 2 stroker before?

 

maybe you wish to go slackriders forum to ask around. there are more experienced dirt riders there to help u with ur queries.
