I am usually a very careful rider but a few days ago, I almost got into an accident.

Without going into the details, i just wish to say that I rode with a very distracted mind due to something that made me very unhappy a short while before i ride.

I should had let myself to cool down before I ride but I was in a rush.

My question is how do you ride with a clear mind even when the above happened ?

safety is not to be compromise, whenever u are feeling low or negative, always think of the consequences and think of the bigger picture, whenever i am emotionally unstable when riding,i always think if the chinese word "REN" which means endure. Try it,it may help u...:)

for me, i talk to myself out loud and sometimes my bike (but it never replies), when im on the move. it sounds damn stupid, but when you actually voice out your emotions and allow yourself to think the different angles through, it helps you ease your mind down enough to operate your vehicle safely.

it has helped me countless times. remember that when you ride with or without troubles, it doesnt change how the roads and its users are at that particular point of time. nobody knows (or cares) - so theres absolutely no point to vent your frustrations by speeding or lane cutting etc.

safe is the new sexy. tc bro!

Before I even got my 2b license, I am already aware that from "work to bike" is the most dangerous as one need to "clear the mind". The incident happened less than 5 minutes after I started my ride.

For 6 months after I started riding, I managed to do that. Constantly reminding myself to be careful. But that day, I failed due to one moment of distraction.

I am lucky to be alive today. I wish to remind everyone in this forum that one had to be CONSTANTLY to be careful ALL the time.

I shall never ride with a distracted mind again.

For many years now getting on the bike at the end of the day and riding off into the sunset was and still is the only thing I look forward to each day.

Friends come and friends go, the motorcycle is always there.

As for emotions - I put them aside by learning to work WITH, not against, the traffic on the road. Nothing picks you up like a coordinated exchange of lanes, or giving way to someone and seeing him/her return the favour shortly thereafter.

The only friends I have are the Comfort Sonatas who recognise me on the road because I insist on giving way to them when I see them.

A year ago I used to shun the bike preferring less stressful and demanding public transport. I quite regretted that because sitting/standing in a train for an hour each day stuck in a crowd at risk from pedophiles and inconsiderate others, just made my mood worse.

Riding my motorcycle is a form of control, and with that comes responsibility.

i guess we all learn through our mistakes. i have my close calls and an accident as well from not focusing on the ride thus i choose to take the bus and train on my off days when i need to wind down and let the mind run free

I totally agree with that! sometimes taking the public transport, gives you, your mind to wonder around. Because riding or driving is alrd stressful enough. I myself also take the public transport sometimes to give my mind a break off the chaotic roads. At the very least, i'm sure i won't put my life or even other innocent lives in danger :) Enjoy riding! And ride safe :)

Riding when you are already in a rush is not advisable, since it greatly increases the risk you will take to reach the destination on time. I think taking public is the safest way. Better safe than sorry.

Yea, its very true that emotions get the better of u. I once had a minor accident due to a quarrel with my wife too. Nowadays speed only when there are minor vehicles on the road. Also before i leave the house i always hug my 4yr old daughter and say 'i love u' then goodbye everytime i ride... Who knows it may be my last time? At least i have no regrets.

remember this rule: when u sit on your bike, you merge into one with the bike. when you are angry, your bike is angry too. when u want to release your anger, your bike release it for you.

solution, whenever you sit on your bike, tell yourself, "I'm a happy man!" haha
