Wa.. finally got ppel interested in the DL650.. I thought I'm the only one. Haha

 

ok.. I'm 1.83cm, 76Kg. My wife is 47kg. I pillion my wife to work everyday and have no problem out running other bikes but not including racers. I can easily squeeze thru traffic and have little problem following the JB riders.

 

In terms of top speed.. definately lost to the 1000 and other smaller CC racer bikes. My bike with only me can go to 180Km/h Max.. that's enough for me but I dun know about you..

 

My wife do have complaint about the heat from the exhaust but that's when we are caught in a jam.

 

I'm 26 yr old. My ins is $700+ first party.(1000s is $1000+) Road Tax is 240 per year.

For the first 5000km.. I spend around $150++ for 3 mineral oil change and 1 Full S oil change. 650 need 2 bottle for normal oil change plus another 1 if changing oil filter. (1000s is 3 bottles) My monthly installment is $270 for 5 years.

 

Money is an issue when I first consider both the bikes.. I would get the 1000 if I can afford it.

 

Will the owner of the new DL contact me.. need to find a kaki for myself.. kekeke

So far, wat i have read abt VS have been very +ve and i think its probably one of the best DP to own.

 

Jus wondering if any of you proud owners fit a HB 40l junior on your VS 1K?

 

Fazer1 is another bike in my consideration..

Get the VS1000, dun bother looking for other bikes already.. muahahahaha

My previous bike before this was a GSXR1000, i have no regrets or what so ever for doing the switch, well i do miss the speed and all but ultimately comfort won me over.. you might say why not get a FJR or ST11 instead? i would say i prefer it naked.. den again if i prefer a "naked" bike, why not the Fazer? I would say.. I seriously dunno.. probably the looks? hahaha

 

nuff said..(its really subjective when it comes to personal preference)

 

As for the H&B 40L, yeah we know of one guy who has it.. the bike looks great with those but a little too pricy for me.. i would spent the money on a top box but no the side.. reason being: i sometimes choose to commute on the VS so traffic will pose a problem, whereas the top box will saty put, trafffic or no traffic..

 

Quick grab the last few DLs if you plan to get one.. or be prepared to wait awhile for it.

Hi I gather somewhere top speed for DL650 is only 170-180kph. Can anyone confirm this as my ex-deuville is capable of 200kph.

 

Also stalling in between gears..... bad bad bad, is this once off or ctually happens for all vstorm?

 

One last Q, OTR price ple, someone mention 15K, I got 16K from Looi's.

2> I also heard the coolant tubing is too short and it will somehow cause some form of leakage causing the plastic parts to melt, is it true?

Hi all, hope to answer some of the questions..

 

1) Yes, top speed for my 650 is around 180km/hr

 

2) Stalling betweens gears happens to me 3 times because I was wearing slippers and did not kick the gears hard enuf

 

3) I'm 26yr and I got the 650 at 16.5k when it first launch. Now should be cheaper.

 

4) I have not heard of any of the VS riders mentioning about the mirror cracking.

The 04' mirrors is a new design which provides a better rear view.

 

5) No such complaints about the coolant tude from VS02, 03 or 04 riders so far.

 

I would recommend the 1000 for power and 650 for handling.

 

Take a look at Ted's VS1000 with Vario screens, fog lamps, givi crashbar and HB Main/panniers.

For a moment, I found the rear view of Ted's vstrom looks very similar to my TDM. I see you are halfway thru sticking them hahaha. Good choice on those 3M reflective tapes Jimmy claims he can see me a mile away at night on the NSH

the stalling's cos of the anti-corrosion stuffs suzuki applied to the inside of the fuel tank. after a few fill-ups will be ok liao.

the leakage is caused by the loose clamps that attaches the tubes. u just need to tighten them!

the 1000. the pick up's good, i'm never worried about overtaking any vehicles on the rd! but i must admit the bike is a little laggy in rpms under 2.5 so just use the lower gears lah. on the eways when i travel at 80km/h - 90km/h, i'm on my 5th gear and overtaking on this gear aint a problem but sometimes i drop a gear cos i like that ROAR! i seldom use the 6th gear unless i'm cruising on the same speed.
