no offence to our fellow neighbouring countries citizens..., but last time we used to think that m'sian drivers and riders are dangerous... but now... look at Singapore... to me i felt that we Singaporean drivers are worst...

you'll be surprised, i drive in malaysia alot, and i can confirm with you the malaysians are a far more forgiving bunch than sgreans.

over there, if you hog the lane, they won't high beam you, they just overtake and move on with their lives.

over here, hog the road, beam and horn all the way, when the next lane is clear for overtaking. just overtake la, why waste time and energy horn and beam nia.

thats just 1 of the many differences i notice between malaysian and sgrean drivers.

February 2011 - March 2012 = Phantom TA 200

March 2012 - August 2013 = Suzuki Impulse 400

Present = BMW (Bus, MRT, Walk)

Conventional passive safety measures are inadequate against drivers who are in a hurry and will see that little safety distance ahead of your bike as a space for their car.

Therefore the best defense against 'offensive' drivers is not to be a target in the first place... Various ways of active safety include keeping a keen eye out for anything around (others will be more wary), teaming up with other vehicles (taxis and M'sian bikes are my favourite) to cooperate with maneuvers/mutual defense and the best of all, planning routes ahead of time to avoid heavy traffic situations that are naturally, rife with drivers late for work/meetings.

With this in mind, no point confronting the other driver in question. I notice they are quite paiseh if you actually kept pace with them or sounded your horn at them in anger. One day you'll be driving that car with a pregnant lady in the passenger seat and would you really drive at 50kph on lane 3 in that situation?

and i'm glad ppl are still concerned enough to expose these reckless and inconsiderate motorists. i guess as long as there r ppl w mentality that doesnt change then somebody has to do smething abt them. my own feeling on this is still the same when we met the last time, nobody in the right places is concerned enough abt us.

the recent cases regarding motorcyclists and motor vehicles are sending the wrong signals. 2-5 five year bans are not enough.1 day jail is a gross understatement of intent. $2000 dollar fines are nothing to these ppl but an inconvenience(esp when in this Rally section a motorcylist is fined $400 for parking in his walkway!) when a car does not give due dilligence and travelling at ONLY 10km above the limit kills a cylist its not his fault.http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/Singapore/Story/STIStory_580130.html the message fr the law is simple; if u choose to ride be prepared to get killed.

simple, just take pix of him using phone n driving, best u can get ur GF to videocam dwn.

then send to TP with ur contact stating u wanna complaint abt this hero using phone on the road + send to straits time forum n stomp.

Likely TP will respond n will charge the hero if the hero denied then u got to go dwn to court to be witness lor.

Wat is troublesome is that u got to make several trips to TP or courts depending on the situation.

Thats why shame them by joining the FB Site and post on youtube. Some come back with comments. Well shame them back. As i want them to comment actually. So i can scold them as i cant on the road.

As a rider, you just have to ride defensively and switch on your headlights at all time so that arseholed like that will notice you.

Switch to high beam if necessary in day time.

Actually wat f@Rk beam also no use. Horn also no use. Some arses are just like that. Tried before. I know his intention so flash beam. He siam abit but after he see rear mirror that its a bike, he end up coming out JUST BECOS YOU ARE A BIKE. I horn him also act never see... ta ma de.

I wonder if it's all a vicious cycle. Car gets annoyed at a biker for reckless riding, holds a grudge against bikers, then takes it out on other bikers. Bikers experience the car driver's behaviour, then elect to ride a little more recklessly (e.g. fast lane splitting) to avoid mad car drivers. And the cycle goes on. The only way out seems to be to ride defensively and be aware of your surroundings. Easier said that done.

Its not a cycle la frankly. But mabbe some ppl think like you. To me concentrating on the road rather than thinking so much of the cycle. Anticipate their movement lagi better. Thus yes ride safe with a cam is best. Any argument just show the vids. Worst come to worst knn ask him ride my bike i drive his car the way he drive see he scared or not.

next time just follow him home

Then wat are you going to do when you reach his home??? Actually i heard before but wat is it you going to do after that? He could have notice you already. If he doesnt that means he dun even see those vehicles on the road at all... he is definately a killer.

I kana this kind of thing before when i was riding a 2B bike.

And so when we turned into a one way direction lane. I overtook the M********** n i slowed down to 20km/hr. He kept horning at me and beaming me with his high beam.

The only finger i gave him was my index finger pointing at the vespa sign behind my bike and cont riding at 20. The idiot cldnt over take me as there were cars in the opposite direction.. HAHA. even the cyclist from the junction had overtaken me. LOL.

If it wasnt for the 7-8 cars behind me, i wld have half clutch all the way.

Pay peanuts get monkey.

If you dare, you can use a decent handphone camera and cable tie it to your frame or handlebars. This option gives superior battery life (my nokia E63 records for 5 hours for the past 5 months). Good enough to track your riding style, vehicle motion, and number plates at closer ranges. Long battery life = no escape!

Mini cameras however will have much better resolution (so long as you got a HD camera, like Hero GoPro) at the cost of HUGE storage space needed for DV quality and lower recording time. However, you can indeed see that driver using a handphone while U turning...

The more economical compromise is get a tripod and a normal 8-12 megapixel digital camera, screw camera onto tripod and cable tie the tripod to one of your mirrors. Great battery life and quality but you know, that looks a bit bulky. Doesn't matter at lower speeds, though!

Haiz, like many has mentioned, riders complained drivers, drivers complained riders. Last night when I drove my mom to a doctor consultation I tried to switch lane to my right in order to proceed right, check my blind spot saw a rider in my blind spot, so I just kept to my lane and upon seeing I signal without changing lane, he actually SHOW ME THE SIGN!!! Haiz, I don't give way, say I don't care about your life, I give way, you think I kuku driver.. How sia....

did you signal before or after you see him? well im not suggesting the rider is right either. but seriously he got no point of showing the finger.

These people are one too many reckless dudes on the roads. Seriously, many drivers/riders don't even bother to signal when changing lanes or turning. Signaling is, in my opinion, the most important safety aspect while on the road. Nobody unless you are a certified psychic are able to discern your thoughts. Let others know your intention and they can react accordingly. On the road, guesswork is a major bane.

Do calm yourself whenever this happen, cheriemrrr. It is not worth it to lose everything to blind rage. Though, hey, I'm in full support of your actions to bring this particular accident to light and so, putting this kind of matter in the spotlight (Stomp, anyone?).

I'll be mounting some kind of video capturing device in the future to highlight these incidents, should it happen again.

I'm a Tutor! Proud to be one!
