There is but u must be a member of the smsa first if i am not wrong. I am not sure if u can get the insurance without being a member. Try calling smsa to ask.

There is indeed such insurance for training/track-racing. Comes in the form of group insurance and everybody pays a per-year premium of a few or a couple hundred (for the entire year), depending on how little or how much coverage you want.

 

You need to (1) be a member of SMSA, and (2) apply for a race license, in order to purchase insurance to cover yourself for track purposes.

 

Out of curiosity, I asked and this is the information that I got:

 

Based on year 2010, this kind of insurance covers you for these expenses:

 

- Your medical fees

- Fees incurred when you need to be sent back to Singapore

- Fees incurred if you need immediate medical evacuation (optional, higher premium plan needed)

- Permanent disablement

- The unthinkable

 

(does not include bike damages; this is personal insurance catered for those who join races)

 

Each of the above may be enough to pay all or some of it only. For instance, for the year 2010, they will only cover you max $5000 if you need to be sent back to Singapore if one is unable to move.

You will need to visit SMSA or inquire on how much each item above can cover you.
