break in the exhaust with high revs at PG..

it'll sound better after the wool inside had burned..

there pivot at of the base of the exhaust.

jus drill it n remove the base.

den pull out the baffle n chop it or eve remove it.

gd luck buddy.

ya inside yoshi pipe, there is wool... it acts like some sound proof sponge or somethin... heard mech says that if u wan loud pipes u take out tt piece of wool... and tighten it and put it back or somethin... as the wool absorbs the sound makin it more softer so if the wool is tighter, the sound absorbed will be lesser and therefore louder pipe sound but den again... y nid to mod? yoshi pipe is gd enuf... y nid to mod it man...

its been so long...

For Yoshimura street legal on RVF, there's no baffle..

The silencer core in the endcan is tapered so that the sound is softer, see attached..

I cant remembered if it's from big to small or small to big diameter..

For modding, it's the same as 2 strokers..

the core will have holes, drilling the holes bigger will achieve a deeper tone..

drilling extra small holes will gain a higher pitch exhaust..

any modification will deem the street legal exhaust illegal..

yes.. what you mentioned is correct..

by right most street legal exhaust or even race exhaust had a repacking schedule.. they'll need to be repacked after some time..

remember to rivet it back using stainless steel rivets..

I was using a Remus slip on for my drz4.removed the removed the silencer on it..the sound was awesome.a base sound to it..have been using it for abt 1year plus.

Decided to change to a yoshi tri-cone..love the looks and the sound not as loud as the Remus..

But I'm never turnin bak..I'm so loving my yoshi..give me the loudest pipe now and I will say no thank you.

Yoshi rocks!! If y want a loud pipe just get the Remus..my friend is loaning the pipe now..il sell it to u for $200 if u want a loud pipe.cheers..

agreed with you.. Yoshi is full titanium and much lighter for DRZ..

but DRZ and RVF uses different pipes leh.. :sian:

You want a loud exhaust? All these you are doing is to just get a loud exhaust?

Remove the baffle or sound absorption material to make the pipe louder?

Do you know that the baffle act as back pressure plate for the engine? Remove or cut or drill more holes... you are reducing the back pressure?? Low back pressure equals lousy cruising and top speed... only alot of noise during acceleration.

If you don't increase the jetting of the carb to compensate for more air being able to flow to the engine.. the engine will run lean. Lean equals overheating which may lead to warped cylinder heads or cracked engine blocks and also backfiring during gear changes and when throttle is closed.

Remove the sound absorption material (fibre) from the silencer??

This material is wrapped tightly around the perforated core of the silencer. It is wrapped tightly for 2 reasons... the first being for sound damping.. but the second most important thing is to streamline and guide the exhaust gases out though the core and therefore creating the necessary back pressure.

Removal or deterioration of the fibre material will result in loss of smooth flow through the exhaust end can resulting in loss of power.

I race both a DRZ400SM and a Y125Z at PG and am always looking to get more power out of the bikes and will probably do just about anything to get the power but........I have learnt that silencer baffles or inserts and sound absorption materials are there for a reason.

Just my 2 cents.

But its your bike and your money... so do what you want.

If you are gonna remove the fiber, buffer and I assume probably drill a few holes as well, you might as well get a two brothers exhaust. Has the sound and performance you desire. If you want to go illegal, might as well go all the way. Why do all that needless modification only to lose performance and be SMOKED by a RVF with stock endcan? :dot:

Thanks bro! This information is very useful. However need to ask you something. I read on other sources that more air will be flowing into the engine if the back pressure is lessen too but I don't know why is this so. Care to explain?

And how come if the engine is running lean there will be backfire? I always thought backfire occurs when the fuel mixture is too rich?

Lastly, I thought lesser back pressure will make you lose pick up not top end?

Sorry I a bit noob with all these, still learning.

Just wanna clarify with pro-er people here ;D

Thanks in advance for ur reply!

waah..you beat me to it.. i also wanted to ask the same question just to clarify my understanding..hehe..

i also thought fuel mixture is too rich thats why there is an excess fuel that isnt combusted in the engine but still goes out of the exhaust and the fuel ignites in the exhaust itself causing a popping sound.. but i maybe wrong..

And yeah, i also thought if there is less back pressure, you will lose ur low end but improve your high end power..i am not really sure of the true exact reason but i guess you need the pressure to suck the exhaust air out quickly thru the exhaust valve when it opens as during low rpm theres like not enough energy from the piston to push the all the exhaust air out of the cylinder fast enough before the exhaust valve closes..

and during high rpm, your engine just need to get more freeflowing exhaust to efficiently get rid of all the exhaust out its producing as fast as possible..

but............ then again.. it just a wild guess..im still trying to learn all these.. so dont take my word for it.. haha

maybe someone can clear our doubts out.. hehe
