Romans 5:14

14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.

16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.

17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:

21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

Verse 17: Sin and death reigned in mankind through Adam's sin in the Garden of Eden. However, through Jesus Christ, we receive much more the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness, so as to reign in life.

Here, we have seen that through Jesus Christ, we have been offered two gifts which enable us to reign in life, namely the abundance of grace, and the gift of righteousness. One may ask how we can experience the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness, so as to reign in life.

For the former, let us look at verse 20 which says that where sin abound, grace did much more abound. As we look into the Greek translation, we understand that the word abound is, in fact, two different words are used to describe the increase in sin and the increase of grace.

The following definitions are taken from "Strong's Hebrew and Greek Dictionaries".

Where sin abound (G4121):

πλεονάζω / pleonazō (pleh-on-ad'-zo)

From G4119; to do, make or be more, that is, increase (transitively or intransitively); by extension to superabound: - abound, abundant, make to increase, have over.

Grace did much more abound (G5248):

ὑπερπερισσεύω / huperperisseuō (hoop-er-per-is-syoo'-o)

From G5228 and G4052; to super abound: - abound much more, exceeding.

In other words, where sin and weakness abound in your life, that exact area is where super-abounding abundance of grace flows.

2 Samuel 11:3-5

3 And David sent and enquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?

4 And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned unto her house.

5 And the woman conceived, and sent and told David, and said, I am with child.

2 Samuel 12:24

24 And David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: and the LORD loved him.

David committed adultery with Bathsheba but he trusted in the LORD and grace flowed in His life, blessing the very area where there was weakness and sin, bringing forth Solomon from Bathsheba. Solomon was a man of wisdom, was loved by the LORD, became his successor and was also included in the genealogy of Jesus Christ.

Matthew 9:10-13

10 And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples.

11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners?

12 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.

13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Matthew 12:9-10

9 And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue:

10 And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.

God's grace does not flow in the areas of your strengths but manifests itself in your weaknesses and failures because grace is the unmerited, unearned favour of God. It is through such amazing grace that we are changed from within by the love of Christ. In fact, we see Jesus going to various places seeking out those who are bound in sin, or bound with illnesses to show them mercy and grace - that the glory of God may manifest for all to see, and that they may experience the amazing grace of God which makes them want to sin no more.

By definition, sin is falling short of God's glory. As such, grace flows in areas of your life where you are not up to mark so that we may not boast of the achievements and blessings as our own works but instead, glorify God for His amazing grace.

2 Corinthians 12:8-10

8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.

9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

Rejoice in your infirmities, in others' criticisms of you, in your needs, in the persecutions, in distresses and difficulties for Christ's sake as these are the very areas where grace flows abundantly for you to glorify God and His amazing grace in your life.

In this psalm of protection, a total of five titles were used to describe God:

Most High / עליון / ‛elyôn / el-yone' (H5945)

From H5927; an elevation, that is, (adjectively) lofty (comparatively); as title, the Supreme: - (Most, on) high (-er, -est), upper (-most).

Almighty / שׁדּי / shadday / shad-dah'ee (H7706)

From H7703; the Almighty: - Almighty.

Sarah conceived just after she received the revelation of this title of God.

LORD / יהוה / yehôvâh / yeh-ho-vaw' (H3068)

From H1961; (the) self Existent or eternal; Jehovah, Jewish national name of God: - Jehovah, the Lord. Compare H3050, H3069.

God / אלהים / 'ĕlôhıym / el-o-heem' (H430)

Plural of H433; gods in the ordinary sense; but specifically used (in the plural thus, especially with the article) of the supreme God; occasionally applied by way of deference to magistrates; and sometimes as a superlative: - angels, X exceeding, God (gods) (-dess, -ly), X (very) great, judges, X mighty.

This title of God portrays Him as the creator and the mighty God.

Salvation / ישׁוּעה / yeshû‛âh / yesh-oo'-aw (H3444)

Something saved, that is, (abstractly) deliverance; hence aid, victory, prosperity: - deliverance, health, help (-ing), salvation, save, saving (health), welfare.

Yeshua is also the name of Jesus in Hebrew, for He is our salvation.

Bro, pastor says to meditate and chew on the Word in bite size. Not be obsessed with it. Unless your appetite and digestive system can take it.

Remember, food not digested and not properly disposed of will become toxic in the body.

the old covenant was the New Covenant concealed, and the New Covenant is the old covenant revealed

All through the Old Testament we find types and symbols of Jesus Christ and His Redeeming Love for His Children.

One can use their intellect and read the bible … will probably see the Do’s and Don’ts and view the Bible as a general law book.

However, if we submit to the Holy Spirit … we will see Jesus in both the new and old covenant.

Like what Apostle Paul says in Philippians 3:8-11

"I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith, that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead"

Searching for grace

He doesn't judge us. He doesn't think bad about us. He doesn't blame us. He doesn't gossip about us. He doesn't reject us. He doesn't leave us. He doesn't forsake us. He doesn't get angry with us. He doesn't speak negatively to us or about us. - So much of what God doesn't do reveals so much of what he does do: He loves us.
