VFR aint the sports bike u wud wana optimise itz usage on track... itz meant for far betters like touring, everyday travel... but itz built wif the capabilities to bring u to track....n back safe... n also ensuring u dun comez in last.... n givez u the boost needed for manuverabilty n adrealene... am i rite fellow Viffers????

although i dun own a vfr... im waiting for a good deal.. or price to drop so can buy a 1st hand...

owning a VFR is an attitude.. a class of itz own... like cruisers.... but come wif raw power n comfort...

Hi to all present and would be VFR owners, i have a few questions in mind and hope you all can give me some advice.

1. What is the current price for a brand new VFR?

2. Is it better to get it from Boon Siew Honda as if got recall, they will talke care of it. if get from other shops, what are the advantages?

3. How many % of interest are we looking at per year? (4%)?

4. What are the recommended after market accessories to fit on the bike?

ie: Windshield, KnN Air filter, Ohlins Rear shock?

5. Any remarks or personnel feeling on VFR800?

Thanks in advance to all bros who take the time to reply me.

Cheers

1. What is the current price for a brand new VFR?

i tink its around 18k machine price only...

2. Is it better to get it from Boon Siew Honda as if got recall, they will talke care of it. if get from other shops, what are the advantages?

well i tink boon siew have to improve on their service before i go there...at least tats wat i heard about them...but yes if there r recalls u can claim from them i tink...there r other shops which sell boon siew bikes...can check out on their website http://www.boonsiewhonda.com.sg/home.htm

3. How many % of interest are we looking at per year? (4%)?

not very sure...sorrie cant help...

4. What are the recommended after market accessories to fit on the bike?

ie: Windshield, KnN Air filter, Ohlins Rear shock?

i would say scottoiler, a louder horn, light guard, windshield and boxes if u wana go for long trips...

5. Any remarks or personnel feeling on VFR800?

its a great bike but personally i m startin to get tired of its fuel consumption...but this is the price u gotta pay for the power...

any other guys who got other comments?

thought u wanted to get something that consumes less fuel?

vfr's are not known to be fuel conserving though. my friend's ex 98or99 vfr800 does 13-15km/l.

vfr750's are pretty rare right now though...

Hi... may i know what kinda mileage are you guys hitting on the VteC version? I am hitting max 19-20km/liter.

I have just had the pleasure of returning from a malaysia B road trip with a VFR800i rider. I was following him on my FireBlade 954.

On paper, the weight difference between these 2 bikes seemed a lot. My 954 weighs a featherly 168kg dry, compared to the VFR 215kg(?).

But if you were to sit on a VFR, as you bring it from its side stand to upright position, you'll immediately be struck that it does not feel as heavy to handle as its weight suggest.

We went through some turns that were very twisty. It appears that the VFR can handle pretty well. Since we are on public roads, we are not riding at a pace that is at my 954's limit. At this pace, I feel the VFR can handle those turns as well and as fast as my 954.

And at speeds up to 120kmh and up to 5000rpm (the VFR is still being runned in), the VFR is actually as quick as the 954. How often do we need really need to travel above 120kmh?

I read another thread here (I think track section) of a VFR rider that was doing some excellent time on the PG track, better than on most people on full sportsbike!

If one were to learn the origins of VFR, it was a full blown sports bike then. So I think a VFR definitely can do track.

There is a difference between wanting to go track 4 times a year and wanting to clock the best lap time than anyone.

I also noted that the VFR has an even more comfortable riding position than 954, already the reigning king of of sports bike when it comes to comfort. Clip ons slightly higher than 954 and your knees are further from your arms. The seat is also more foamy than my 954. Windshield also bigger and deflects windblast up to shoulders level.

End of the day, depends on your priority list. The VFR is not cheap. It is a fully faired bike (so insurance expensive) and the machine price is almost the same price as my 954. There are things my 954 can do better than VFR (but am I really able to expoit those advantages?) and in return, the VFR does some other things better than my 954.

The rider who bought the VFR had previously rode sports bike 400cc and R1, and likes to go track.

arlow!!!

was looking for more VFR information and i saw you here! Here are the pics for the Malaysia B road trip! I think I mailed you but like no reply.. here you go...

Road tax is based on size of cc as shown below. Only your insurance falls into the 1000cc premium

****************************************************************************************************************************************

Determine your motorcycle's engine capacity.

Use the formula to calculate your road tax.

Engine Capacity (EC) Road Tax Formula*

(per annum)

EC £ 200 cc $80 (flat rate)

200 cc

EC > 1,000 cc $320 + 0.6 x (EC – 1,000)

* Effective from 1 September 2002.

Example:

If your motorcycles's engine capacity is 400 cc (ie EC = 400), the new road tax will be as follows:

Road Tax = $80 + 0.3 x (782 - 200)

= $80 + 0.3 x (582)

= $80 + 174.6

= $254.6

****************************************************************************************************************************************

i totally agree with your opinions. My frens all disuaded me not to get the VFR coz its

1. heavy

2. low bhp

3. coz of 1 and 2 no torq

4. no top end

5. boh hua in terms of power/$

but i am looking for comfort, sport (how often can i go track man.. also not pro), great looks. It alll about what the rider wants at the end of the day. In short, it the best all rounder bike around...

After saving since 2001 december, i am a very happy man now and enjoying every moment.. just wanna rtide.. but always raining these days

1. current price = $23,800OTR (2nd party, 25 years old, insurance is $1379)

2. Well I dunno abt the rest but I am happy with Looi's price. Good service and also reasonable price compared to parallel importers. Anyways, Looi's bikes are from boons siew.. safer too

3. yesh interest is 4%. Full cash got no discount either

4. well my dream is

a) rear hugger

b) ohlins front+rear suspensions (the current one is good for all round purpose!)

c) double bubble (existing one covers well()

d) scott-oiler (manual operated one at home so far so good)

e) laser exhaust with 4 individual pipes like the afgusta! (this is SG leh.. nut nice!)

f) K&N filter (dun see the need.. prob change when filter is due)

5. first ride on thurs upon collection = feels weird and not used to. Coz mainly of the engine sound. Doesn't sound like RVF, nor does it really sound like a v-twin. Riding out is smooth and sweet. Very nice and tame. the positon is great. Tall high.. got a sense of authority. Once rev up it has the nmice bassy tone. Somehow comments were it sounds like atoned/tamed ducati and also like a muffled WRX.

Pushin and movin on stationary is heavy (i am only like 55kg?). At speeds below 30kmh, its not very agile. Once above that, it "feels" like an R1 in term of agility. Bike is stable up to speeds of 140kmh (6k rpm).. paiseh coz i am still runnning in. haven't smell VteC yet.

I ham not a "cooked" VFR rider, but just sharing how its like upon first rides... hope they help little

another nice pic.... trying to take one pic like that on my... its hard to coordinate man

well.... i dun tink i will need a double bubble... coz theoretically it will not really out the wind.. chances is the turbulent part will be somewhere around the mid head level instead of the shoulders.

anyways, how much are you letting it go for? and can test and see the effect or not first huh...
