Anyone keen on a MY touring trip during national day weekend. I am joining some strom riders who go along the MY trunk roads. Brief itinery below. There are so far 4 or 5 bikes going. 2 VFR, 1 BMW, 1 deauville.

The ride with a different twist, we are not going by the usual East Coast but through Central Malaysia with many kilometres of beautiful roads and sceneries, 1st day will see us staying in Kuala Lipis. 2nd day will be the highlight of the trip we’ll ride to the Man Made Island Resort in Banding and we’ll travel via Grik Highway aka East-West Highway. 3rd day will see us riding to Tapah town itself. 4th day will be home sweet home via North-South Highway.

Must wear proper gear.

yeah... the ohlins is at a fantastic price man! If you want to improve handling (especially on mersing roads man), pick it up! Me and melvin were both po-going at the rear on our viffers when we pushed it hard. Kinda dangerous man.. :giddy:

But take note of spring rate, so that you can get enough rider/static sag. Also remember the front, you will need to do up the front to compensate. Or else, you the rear fault will translate to the front, especially on the braking side.

By the way, the pipes dun't increase much noticable power leh :sian: Other than the increase dyno numbers, the actual thing feels different, aint significantly much different. i am just going for the throaty V4 growl ..heehee..:cheer:

hey, that sounds very good le. Only problem is that I do not really understand what it will do to my bike. better handling = not so bumpy? or can go faster tru corner?

something to share based on own encounters.

Stock shocks are great. Versatile as it is comfy on SG roads and malaysia trunks road. 2 up might pose a little problem especially with full lugguage. Even at 34 clicks (max out) its a little soft. The rebound is not able to handle the bumps. Why I say so... below have further illustrations

As for track, the OEM shocks are great too, but not fantastic. A little too soft on the compression upon exiting coners, (acute up-slope coners are the most obvious. High speed banks pose encounters with the footpegs). Push it hard and you'll find its not that entertaining anymore.

On mersing roads. Push it hard, once you encounter a bump, the rear just bounces. Kinda dangerous. :giddy: even if you beef up the rear with the knob, the rebound ain't able to take the load. The rear shock upgrade would be best oif they have high and low speed circuit. Even the ohlins shocks for VFR does not have compression, adjustability might be a tad limited.

Get the rear setup well for your weight n riding style. VFR is a bit tricky as the variation in setting for harsh riding and full touring mode is kinda large. :cheeky:

My 2 cents worth....

Wha.. thanks for the detailed explanation. Too cheem for me also. So in layman's term's its something like that the ohlins spring gives a softer damping? As I am quite a heavy chap weighing 90+ KG. Will that already give me good performance? You know, the bike is mostly set up for european market (like all the sg vfr i guess) so would that mean that heavy guys like me would be better off with the stock spring?

In lay man terms, the stock is too soft for hard and harsh riding even for asian like me. Change to an ohlins if you push your bike often, as it gives a better (not softer) damping
