With Fidel in hospital, Raul in control, US pushing for democracy.

What you guys think will happen to cuban cigar?

What if US lift the embargo?

Will price of cuban go rocket high?

Or any change in the quality of cuban?

On the issue of the future of Cuba and our favourite Habanas in the wake of Fidel's poor health, my understanding is this:-

1. There are two camps of Cubans (one with fidel and the other one against)

2. Fidel over 47 yrs has used force by means of restriction to foreign media and ideology to create a "naive, ideal" nation.

3. Tourism industry in Cuba over the last 15 yrs has opened the eyes and minds of Cubans.

4. Americans still refuse to give up Guantanamo Bay citing national security as an excuse to aim missiles at Mainland Cuba.

5. Fidel is in serious health problems and may likely die this time.

6. Power will be retained by Fidel's QPR party (Brother Raul) and even if it is not, Cuba will continue to refuse to bow down to US demands.

7. The Cubans dont care about the US Govt sanctions as long as the soil of Vuelta Abajo remains rich and the sun rises from the Prado, sets at the Malecon and music fills the streets.

8. Production of Cuban cigars is controlled by Habanos SA which is 50% Altadis Spain and 50% Cuban Govt.

9. Many American Cigar smokers have not learn to appreciate the Habana.

So whether the Embargo is lifted or not wont determine the destiny of the Cuban cigar. (reasons given by Entity already) Rather it could be more likely the death of Fidel which may spark a new revolution of capitalistic uprising in Cuba. So more new brands, more modern packaging.

Cuba will not be the same without the Commandante. For all his dictatorial tyrannic ways, Fidel still has my respect as a man of extreme charisma, strong fiery passion and self belief albeit resulting in his selfish "cruelty" and total disregard for his people's personal freedom.

Hasta La Victoria Siempre!

Time for a cigar after all that....heh heh heh

Hi guys how the outing goes that night?

Yeah it's been quiet here..........

Anyway i did a RYJ churchill two days ago. Very wonderful flavour, full of character and well balanced. A bit mild to medium body although i like heavy strong cigar, but it still manage to make smoke down to the last inch, did it in 1hr and 15mins. Very enjoyable!

How does H.Upmann Sir Winston compare to RYJ Churchill? Which other julieta is good?

Hope everyone is enjoying their cigar!

Cheers!

i believe everyone will tell you that the Upmann Sir Winston is a class better than the RyJ Churchill.

Why didnt you join the meet up that nite?
