Hey Guys,

Been out of action for a while. Crazy project involving many a sleepless nights, had to go to KL at short notice and finally collapsed into bed on Fri night after 2 weeks of slavery.

Saving grace was that the Hilton in KL (next dr to the Meridien where I was at) had a decent Cigar selection at prices that are a little better than SG. So picked up a couple of CAO MX2s to try as I had never seen that brand in SG and was attracted by the double maduro wrapper binder combo.

Wow, what a cigar! Date and chocolate pre light aroma and beautiful flavor, draw and burn right through. This is a dominican but what a dominican it is. Beautiful top notch construction and medium bodied without being overpowering for a relative noob like me.

The date and chocolate changes to dark chocolate about a third through and it doesn't go anywhere from there to the last third, when it starts to get acidic. While the monotony of dominicans is an oft quoted complaint, man, i dont mind smokin something that gives me a date chocolatey flavor right through!

Just my opinion, wish i had picked up more of these babies before coming back to SG. Cant wait to get back out to get some more.

On that point, do any of you know if i could find CAO cigars in SG? I know Con D is the purist joint and does not stock dominicans, and I cant get them at Oaks coz about the best dominican they have is the Macanudo Hyde Park Cafe Maduro.

Hope we can all meet up sometime. Seems like everyone has been smokin alot less than they would like to lately...ah, such is life in the busy tropics :)

Also guys, would be grateful for any advice on a good place to get a Humi in SG. Dont want to buy online, would rather get one from a proper place in SG. Grateful for the collective wisdom on offer here...

As of now, would be willing to work with a good travel humi if that is good enough for stocking 8-10 cigars at a time as i dont see my self exceeding that count per month for at least a year. Thereafter i could consider getting a 50 count may be

To dispel some misconception.

DR cigars are known to be of the best quality in the world better than Cubans

DR cigars are not better or worse tasting than Cubans, just different.

Just that in this thread, we all happen to prefer the Cuban taste.

I for one started out with non Cubans like, Davidoffs, Zinos, Arturo Fuentes, Ashtons, Griffins, Macanudos, Avos, Auroras, Bahias, Don Diegos and the very occasional CAO.

Wasnt only after about a year or so did I switch to Cubans totally.

So I guess my taste for Cubans is considered "acquired"

Back to business, there are DR cigars at Con Divan but CAOs are not available here unfortunately , for you. heh heh.

There are definitely better DR cigars at Oaks and also at Blue Bells Davidoff GrandHyatt. try the Arturo Fuente Maduros, Ashton Maduros or Davidoffs and Dunhill signature. Whatever it is, try it and relish its character then after many smokes you will know what suits you best. Perhaps it's not Cuban but it's still a premium cigar. And thats what we are all here for , love of the Leaf, Cuban or otherwise.....

May I suggest a Thursday evening smoke, Guys?

It's really been a long while since we've come together.....

Hey Guys,

Throttle, thanks for the responses. Much appreciated. Will be hitting up the joint at the Hyatt to see if i can get some good DR cigars.

Had a Dip No.5 yesterday, good no-nonsense short smoke. Noting unbeleiveable but good quality cuban flavor. Picked up a Dip No. 4 and Upmann petite corona as well as looking fwd to doing those soon, although it seems I am leaning at the moment toward the DR maduro taste.

Thu night at Conn-D might actually be do-able. What time are you guys looking at? Have a project to finish by Fri but pushing to get it done sooner so provided i can be reasonably efficient I'll be glad to join on Thu.

Probably early, immediately after work? 7pm?

Sorry but I need to go by about 9.30pm or so, hopefully more people will be there so that those who want to stay late can have company as much as those who are there early.
