How about we can have a list of local cigar boutiques? It will be greatly beneficial for a novice like me... At least can really pop in and have a look while do shopping. :lovestruck:

Jia lak liao....if kena addicted, then monthly pocket will burn even faster and more holes..... But i can say, it is kind of enjoy to savour the aroma of them. I have been searching for the greater taste other than from normal ciggy. Sometime for me to take a puff n enjoy it slowly can be a plain small luxury. (for those non smokers, pls dun follow suit. I m trying to quit. NOt becos of the money, but for health sake.)

I was going through this thread from pg 1 to abt pg 12, trying to complie all the experiences talks and informations from throttles and other cigarmen, quite 'chuan' leh...but very interesting. From cigarshops like 7-11 to throttle's friend when one forumer saying he look like gay to he went to Cuba and enriching their economy to his photo kena edited in mag! Woah! Cool.... i am going to carryon later part..... i am trying to compile into .doc then edit then read on all the goodies..... Now is the 'harvesting of the tobacco leaves, later is the fermenting and hand roll and package of the cigar..' long way to go, but hope i can be useful.

Very chim to learn the fine art....Yes, many etiques to understand and do. Do it wrongly or not appropriate ppl will call you poser... Just like driving a Porsche, ppl dun really go and use it to 'cha radio' with unwinded window in front to M.Sultan. Ppl drive it steadily then park at the lot then walk out and got to their destination.

Now i m looking for a proper cutter, humidor maybe i go slowly first. BTW, a normal cheap cutter that can cut properly is abt how much? I dun need those with gold trim or with name engraved one, just a proper one. Use penknife and cut a bit funny leh...

if you dont mind, can always start with cheaper plastic handle twin bladed cutters.

most are under $30.....

as long as the blade is sharp, thats most important.

there is a brand called Palio which has plastic handles but uses top class surgical steel blades invented by doctors who smoke cigars. about $80....

cheers

hey 'sup every1. been browsing thru this thread. lotsa new stuff i learnt from throttle. heh. well i've tried a cigar only once before. bought a romeo something something. lol cant remember. but it was in a silver metal casing. $15 from oaks at taka, had the assistant cut it for me cos i knew nuts bout cutting. then i spent some time researching on cigars. cutting, lighting etc. they mentioned something bout using butane(i think) lighters. if dont haf they suggested matchsticks. care to explain throttle? i know cigar is not meant to be inhaled but yeah i tried it out of curiosity and boy was i coughing like mad. muz experience mah. lol.

living legend??? who else but the welsh wizard...

cigars should only be lit with butane gas lighters or matchsticks.

other types of lighters that uses liquid fuel or cnadle or wax will taint the taste of the cigar. that means Zippos are out! zippos use liquid fuel which give off a smell.

ST Duponts, Davidoffs, Dunhills all approved becos these lighters use odorless and colorless butane gas. lighting cigar becos matchstick tips have chemical on them.

Jet lighters are very popular because they are very easy and quick to use for lighting a cigar. also they are handy when it is windy.

I however, prefer always to use my Dupont whenever possible becos i enjoy the ritual of lighting a cigar with a soft flame. It takes more skills in lighting a cigar with a soft flame. jet lighters are almost idiot proof.

Partagas Serie D No. 4 is a good old school classic Cuban smoke.

Trinidad is one of the most expensive brands for cuban cigars.

was made for diplomatic use only in the past and comes in very few vitolas.

The Trinidad fundadores is a long creamy nut base flavored smoke which is also a long loved vitola.

Those who are keen to try better grab soon.

Prices are fair.....

dont worry, hoyos are generally medium mild or light heavy.

Partagas shorts are also rather young vitolas so not very strong...

easy smokes......

Epi2 is also one of my favourite afternoon easy smoke.
