Throttle,

Enjoyed meeting up just now. Learned quite a bit about pronunciations of cigar and cigar terms, bikes and stuff. Thanks for the cigars as well. Looking forward to the next meet up!

ya, they got law that smoking in public restaurant will be fined 2000bath. strange... everyone smoking at the pool side, funny scene though...

i bought some siglo lll from duty free, so so only, the cigar was a little dry. DFS kept the cigar in cupboard only, not humidor, so the humidity wasn't right and the cigar became dry... keep the cigar in humidor for few days may revive it i guess...

Siglo III ?

definitely overated. but good to just try.

DFS puts the cigar in a humidified cupboard if I recall.

Although a little dry as with all DFS cigars, the humidity is kept above 65%

I always check that when I browse.

Anyone keen on Trinidad Robusto Extra or Siglo VI? Both are big cigars

I dont fancy the taste that much and willing let go at any price near $45

Also willing to part with 3 of my RYJ Hermoso No. 2 EL2004 at $30 each for those who want to try.

PM me if interested. Only for cigar lovers

Humidors are cheap in Europe but very cheap in the States.

S$200 for a 50 stick humidor is very decent.

Throttle, didnt expect you to put up your cigars for sale after I talked about it last night. Sent you a pm.

Getting a cheap humidor from overseas is definitely a good idea. Only thing is, you might not be able to feel the interior and see how it looks like in front of you. The only things you can see is from the pictures put up on the Internet. Still, the risk is worth taking cos the price can be as low as one third the price of a similar quality one from Singapore.

heh heh I'm not really putting them up for sale lah...

I have quite a few of the RYJ HErmosos No. 2 and I'm not totally in love with the Trini RobX or Siglo VI so I dont mind. Plus, I have such an assortment of cigars

But no one can touch my Hoyo piramides EL2003 !

Tonitie I am definitey doing a Partagas Serie D No. 1 EL 2004

and finishing the nite with probably a RYJ Belicoso

Throttle, surely you have provided many novice great advises in getting a good cigar.

If one have follow through this long and benificial thread, i would say this is not any booboo thread that ppl here talking craps. MAny in in-depth knowledge of ciagr-ing can be found, had been shared here. Even sharing of good, quality cigar.

I personally have benefited alot, though i this week didn't not puff any of em.(sick and overheated la)....

Thanks man Throttle! :thumb:

BTW, Throttle, how's does the Upmann usually tasted like? Even dreamed of buying it in shop...dann!

Last night watch the show abt Fidel Castro, Cuba's boss. Immediately tot of cigars..... Saw him burning up a cigar using only using match stick, and the burn is quite evenly spreaded. Saw him putting cigar in mouth, makes me drool! :hungry: :hungry:

yes, it is pretty reliable, i only choose those with very good buyer feedback.

got smaller one, about 20ct, but the price about the same... because the delivery cost more than the humidor itself... :giddy:

Thanks for the kind words Intruder....i'm still learning new experiences myself.

Only thing is that, I had more opportunity to smoke and also that I started earlier

glad that the thread is doing well , thanks to all the response of everyone here.

On the issue of humidors , there are many good buys in the market cheap snd expensive. Top class humidors are top class becos of the workmanship and the quality of materials , also becos of the brand. David marshall , Elie Blue, Davidoff and many others are top brands.

Entity has earlier given good advice on what to look out for in a humidor as well.

basically a good humidor is constructed firmly and almose perfectly air tight, the interior cedar wood is smooth and joints are beautifully hand crafted. Rose wood, mahogany and other expensive hard wood are used as the exterior.

also important is the humidifier. it is the lung of the humidor that maintains the humidity at 65 to 75% constantly.

Many good quality humidors can be found on the net. just find the one that you like most. they are usually quite good and reliable.

generally a fairly good 20 stick humidor will cost anything from $100 upwards.

just had my usual Upmann No. 2 and Exhibicion No.4 earlier. good nite fellas.

cheers

Just an interesting tit-bit: Castro has already stopped smoking cigars himself for health reasons. Ironic isn't it?

While i am search ard, i saw this cute article about the Cuba and U.S. issue. Not sure is it true, but i just want to shared with your here..

"On the evening of February 2,1962 almost a year after the Bay of Pigs incident, President John F. Kennedy called his Press Secretary, Pierre Salinger into his office " Pierre, I need your help", " I'll do anything I can Mr. President" Salinger replied." I need a lot of cigars" the President went on, "How many," About a thousand" the President said. Returning the next morning the President called Salinger and asked him to come to his office immediately. When he arrived, the president asked " How did you do, Pierre?," Very well sir ," overnight, he had purchased one thousand two hundred Cuban H. Upmann petite coronas. The president smiled, walked to his desk, pulled out the decree and immediately signed Presidential Proclamation # 3447 ( Embargo on all trade with Cuba) at 8:06am, February 3, 1962, and thereby enacted the Cuban Trade Embargo.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOHN F. KENNEDY, President of the United States of America, acting under the authority of section 620(a) of the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 (75 Stat. 445), as amended, do Hereby prohibit, effective 12:01 A.M., Eastern Standard Time, February 7, 1962, the importation into the United States of all goods of Cuban origin and all goods imported from or through Cuba."
