El producto is non cuban, i have had one of those in Jkt Club Macanudo before.

I think it's Dom Rep with Honduras or Nicaraguan Wrapper. Actually an alright cigar.

Was at Con D tonight , bump into Pasir Ris with his "gang", heh heh.

Did a hoyo Piramides EL 2003 and a Monte Edmundo.

The Hoyo Piramides still remains top on my list.

Just had a La Gloria Cubana Medaille d'Or No. 2. Quite a disappointment from my point of view. The first few puffs were highly promising. Very nutty, just the way i like it. Subsequently, it turned leathery and towards the end, very spicy. Something is also wrong with the draw, which went out about 4 times before I gave up.

Perhaps you got one that wasnt too well rolled nor too well kept.

happens like with all other cigars brands / vitolas as you know.

try a few more from a diff sources to see. But usually if I'm still not "song" with the second one i find it difficult to get the third to try.

Contrararily, I have done quite a few Medaille D'Or No. 2 (about half box) and all were great tasting, end to end. The only main reason, i stopped smoking them was the size. I prefer ring guage 46 and above. I have the Tainos in my humidor but still recall that the D'or No. 2 tasted better.

Those D'or 2s i've had, i recall were 2001 batch.

was at taka oaks last nite. wanted to buy a rafael gonzalez londales to try, but they dun have it.

the service this time rd was crappy, as usual. it's the last time im goin back there again.

had a ryj ex no.4 as well. it was juz like the very first one i had. i still love it. hehe... smoked it rite down to the nub.

Heard so much about the Exhibition No. 4 but I still haven't tried it..

The service at Taka Oaks is good only when you're a regular buy-a-lot client.

You've seen how good the service is for me at Oaks Orchard Parade Hotel and La Casa Cubana @ Regent Hotel. If the fella at Taka Oaks dun catch up, the biz there will be really bad.

Exhibicion No. 4 has got a toasty taste from the start.

Not burnt but toasty. However, not hints of nuts at all.

Mid way thru, it gets a very little bit fruity

What is amazing about this cigar is the consistency.

And an almost unbeatable value for money.

Taka Oaks is always like that.... Orchard Parade and Tanglin Mall better.

Hi all the experts here! Caught interest in cigar recently, also dunno why, haha.

Found this thread when I searched for cigars under google and learned alot from the postings here.

My first taste of cigar was years back when I was in the army, got a puff from one of the instructor who was smoking one during training. After that, also not into smoking anything. But recently the interset in cigar just hit me.

After reading through all the posts in this thread (took a few days!!), I got even more 'gian'. So went Tanglin Mall Oaks ytd planning to get one cheaper cigar to try. I remember throttle recommended Macanudo as an entry cigar so got myself a Macanudo no.4 at $17.

Plan to enjoy it this coming weekend. Hope its gd!

Hey there Seatiger, next time you've an outing, just join us! Cigars always seem to taste better when you're smoking with other cigar-smoking friends.

From my one and only experience in Macanudo, I found it very very mild and less flavourful. I heard that most of their cigars are like that.

Different people have different tastes in cigars. As long as you like it, thats a good cigar! Inevitably though, most people WILL gravitate towards Cuban cigars. That is not to say that non-Cubans are bad. In fact, its universally regarded that the better non-Cubans have better consistency and make than Cubans. However, there is this unique taste that Cubans have that is unduplicable outside Cuba itself. Can't really describe it. But you'll know when you've smoked enough of both types of cigars.

Enjoy your cigar this weekend. But dun dismiss it if it's not that good. Join us for the next cigar gathering (which should be within the next few weeks) so perhaps we could share the finer points of cigar smoking.

Fully second Entity on that

I started with Dominican republic cigars, namely Zinos and Davidoffs.

I also did Don Diegos, Padrons, CAOs, Macanudos, La Auroras, Arturo Fuentes, Avos, Ashtons, Diamond Crowns, Cuesta Reys, Santa Damianas, etc...

My "diet" when i started was almost 90% non cuban and 10% cuban.

In less than a year if i recall, i was bowled over by the taste flavor aroma of a Habano and have been doing almost 100% cuban cigars since.

It's mostly due to the liking for stronger, deeper flavors and taste which the Cuban is well-known for.

The Non-Cubans are more well constructed and taste more floral with a tea-like aroma. It is a great way to start cigar smoking as the stronger Cuban may be a put-off for beginners.

I still do a Non-Cuban very once in a while, but i dont buy them any more.

There are distinctive differences in flavors and aromas between Cuban and Non Cuban. Even between Dom Rep and elsewhere. For me and many, the cuban cigar has won our hearts and tongues. I guess part of the love is also due to the historical significance and origins of the cigar.

"Viva Cuba Libre!"
