Had a Private REserve Double Corona with NitesTlaker at Acid Bar yesterday.

Impromptu meetup.

This personally custom rolled cigar from Pinar Del Rio of which I have 2 only is trully one of a kind.

While I had a blocked nose and a case of sore throat, i felt compelled to smoke it and smoke it i did after keeping it for more than a year in my humidor

Although i couldnt taste it completely and it would have been better to smoke it when i am well. I really couldnt care less anymore. heh heh

REview:

=====

Beautiful clean dark (EL standard of darkness) oily wrapper.

Construction was excellent as evidential by the well formed ash rings.

Burn was perfectly even and no relighting was required even after putting it on hold to go to the Restroom.

Smoke was full and medium in body.

Started off with leathery earthiness and moved into tasting like a mild dark chocolate bar dipped in coffee. By the second qtr, it had very quickly turned woody, woody woody.

This amazing woodiness (some what like wine) was laced with clear accents of cognac on the tongue as immediate as the smoke entered the mouth. a hint of sweetness was experienced.

What a complex cigar i thought!

The finish wasnt long and the taste somewhat didnt linger as much as i wanted.

Into the last third when i left, the nuttiness began kicking in. In a little exaggeration it'll almost be like popping roasted walnuts in your mouth!

The finale ended a bit spicy and bitter but still very palatable.

Splendid!

Had a Romeo y Julieta Exhibiccion No. 4 the other day. Perhaps it was stored badly but the cigar was too dry. The outer layer broke when we tried to "massage" it a bit as the draw was a bit tough. It had a slight bean taste at the start but as the cigar fell apart, it became to painful to watch and the taste was sour and terrible. A waste

Sorry to hear that....

definitely too dry if wrapper cracks easily.

A real waste to what i label as the most consistent Habano

Perhaps this is why I keep my cigars 70% - 75% humidity contrary to most.

I realise that keeping cigars at slightly higher humidity keeps them oily and shiny, almost waxy and smooth to the touch. But be careful so that the burn and flavor is not compromised. and worse of all ---> BUGS!!!!!

I think I may do a Salomon tonight......hohohoh

Happy Chinese NEw Year

p.s. what do you mean by "we"? You shared the cigar with someone, maybe?

Happy Lunar New Year fellow Cigar Afficionados!

PersonaMaxx>> Sorry to hear about your Ex no.4 falling apart... has never happened to me for this cigar. As Throttle has mentioned, it is really a very consistent quality Habanos... Do hope your next one is better.

Nightstalker> Anyone ordering any stuff from cubancrafters? I want to get a 25 or 50 count Travel humidor, much cheaper alternative to those sold here... i.e Daniel Marshall (cough cough). And maybe a plastic xikar twin blade guilotine as well. Or the cubancrafters cutter that Entity has (it's on offer now by the way!).

Just got back from a heavy dinner... going to do a Hoyo DC now... hehe

As some of you guys already know, I'll be leaving Singapore soon... Seeing how it's impossible to bring my humidor over amongst other restrictions (ahem), I'm putting the following items up for sale.

1. Cigar Humidor

The humidor measures about 2ft x 1ft x 1/2 ft; more than enough to hold several boxes of cigars. The interior is fully lined with spanish cedar and comes with 4 cedar dividers. The external surface has a couple of minor buffs and scratches. Nothing a little wax won't take care of. Starting bid at $200.

2. Davidoff Scissors

Seldom used Davidoff Scissors. Brand speaks for itself. Eloi Surgical Steel, comes in green presentation box. Starting bid at $250. To see how much this item brand new costs, look here:

Feel free to PM me and offer me a bid for either/both the above items.

It's 2.30 am here!!

My mouth was watering when I was reading about the cigar "escapades" you guys had in the past few hours. Too bad I'm not holding any with me and can't smoke'em here. The cigar store in Christchurch was already closed by the time I arrived here.

Enjoy! And happy lunar new year to all!

Doubtfool. Perhaps you can try to auction your stuff off ebay.

PersonaMaxx, maybe u had a poorly maintened ryj ex no.4. though i've only had 2 so far, both were great. u really shd try another one.

Ooohhh a 150ct Presidente Glass Top Humidor.....nice.....great stuff for admiring your cigars without opening the humidor top!

I would love one of those if not for my 6 other humidors lying around and also my wife nagging about it. I might change my mind when i see it though.

:help:

Thanks for the advice guys. Actually, i'm really in no hurry to sell but it would be better than gathering dust. Futhermore, if I sell on ebay, probably will encounter overseas buyers, and with a glass top - shipping is going to be a pain.

I just had a fantastic idea... How about this instead?

***Willing to trade humidor and/or scissors for Cigars!***

hahaha... Smoke as many cubans while I still can...

Was going to ask if anyone wants to share a box of Trinidad Reyes but I was too late and its out of stock already... Can't wait for the Fonseca delicias and Monte No.2s...

Yeah I think the R&J Exhibiccion No. 4 had more potential.. was with a friend when I was smoking it...I had high hopes for the Reyes I got the other day because I had tried a puff previously and loved it...unfortunately it didn't seem that much a knockout when I got my own...storage again perhaps? Or maybe someone else's cigar is always better :cheeky:

I like the Monte 2 too..general good experience with it

Hehehe thanks man.

I just did a P2 last night at Meridien lobby lounge... the aircon there was really strong... slight uneven burn... Was thinking of doing an Upmann conn. no.1 tonight but looks like it'll have to wait. Haha.

Finished off tonight with a Cuaba Salomon......beautiful!

Flavors were coming out better than the one i had a month ago at Entity's gathering. This had been in my humidor for about 6 months already. Dark and Oily. 105min smoke

Good stuff.
