cigars that went up in smoke today-

1. Montecristo no.2

2. Bahia Gold Maduro no.2 (Costa Rica, Piramides)

3. Bolivar Bonitas

Review - Bahia Gold Maduro no.2

Aged '98 Torpedo from Costa Rica. Very dark wrapper (maduro leaf) but not much oils. A bit of a generous cut on my choosing. Easy draw and good construction with a firm white ash. Started off slow in the flavor dept with mild sweetness on the light. Slightly before the middle, the flavor opened up. Hints of coffee, cocoa with copious amounts of smoke; some traces of vanilla... Clouds and clouds of smoke, the finish got longer and more pronounced. Ash stood slightly past the halfway point.

Squid, it was quite a delicious smoke right? haha =)

2nd Review - Bolivar Bonitas

An extended perla. Very aromatic with just the right amount of bitterness i like. Slightly creamy in the first half. 2nd half was more chocolatey, slight spices and earthy. The aroma was absolutely splendid, although the burn looked like it was all over the place. Coupled with a latte, quite a fulfilling way to cap things off.

After some packing arrangements... I've decided to try my luck at selling off some unwanted stuff, including the humidor and cutters i posted previously. Open to trade also...

***1. 150 ct glass top humidor - The humidor measures about 2ft x 1ft x 1/2 ft! The interior is fully lined with spanish cedar and comes with 4 cedar dividers. The external surface has a couple of minor buffs and scratches. Nothing a little wax won't take care of.

***2. Davidoff Scissors - Seldom used Davidoff Scissors. Brand speaks for itself. Eloi Surgical Steel, comes in green presentation box.

***3. Montecristo no.2 - 3 sticks available for sale/trade. Simply don't have enough time to age them (pity...).

My Astral Grand Reserves are turning out very nicely!

Just smoked one from my stock. After the "sick period" ones which some of you guys smoked the last time. I didn't have very high hopes that they'll turn out so good after just a couple of months. Woody start, turning coffeeish and chocolately, with a leathery finish. Fantastic! Exactly how I remembered it to be and the reason why I bought so many in the first place.

My very favourite non-Cuban. Even better than some of the low-end Cubans.

entity> those Astral Grand Reserves are aged '93 right? glad that the "sickness" has been cured! :thumb:

anyway, did a H. Upmann Connoisseur no.1 at mortons in the early evening and finished off the night at wine connection at mhd sultan with a delicious trinidad reyes.

utterly satisfied

had a lonely RYJ Exb No 4 yesterday night, it taste much better than my first one 2 months ago...

think it settle well in the humidor..

burning wasn't even due to strong wind yesterday night, smoke till the last inche.

Nighstalker, i must agree with you it is good value for money, my first wasn't good may be due to its inconsistancy.

no time to do a D4 as i OT till 830pm, reach home 930pm, only manage to squeeze a little time for a exb no 4... :weep: work & study together are simply too tough...

Doubtfool, you were close. They're '92s.

Anyone interested in meeting up for smokes this friday? I heard that there's a cafe in Bishan Park (near the carpark). Since most of us stay in the north, wanna go there to check out the place?

Also, I've gotten my Divinos. Very young (Nov '05) and still smell of ammonia. Going to need to age them for quite a while. Also just ordered a box of P2s for myself. Yum..

My humidor is getting full. Thinking of getting another one from Con D. I have my eye on the 75 count "striped" one.

Gerard, I didn't smoke alone. Just with a different bunch of friends.

Sev, there's a humidor in Con D that is wood grain design. Except that the grains are separated by black and brown stripes. Love that design.

No formal meet-up planned so far till Throttle gets back. Anyone up for smoking tonight?

Just bought my "striped" humidor from Con D.

TheSquid, I like the carbon fibre one as well. But that one is very expensive.

Smoked a Sancho Panza Belicosos today. A surprisingly good smoke with taste changes every few puffs. Looks ugly with veins, irregular shape and almost no pre-lit scent but flavourful (medium-bodied though).

Good to know that you're back Throttle. I'm up for a Wed smoke. Let's make it official:

8th March (Wed)

Al Sheikh

8 pm

So far, its me and Throttle. Who else is interested to come?

it's good to be back.

my cigar collection is about 350 sticks now (in 7 humidors).

I think i'd better slow down. i'm running out of space!

WEdnesday is good unless i have to pop by HongKong midweek......

I've approximately 100 sticks of non-Cubans and 50+ sticks of Cubans with more on the way. In contrast to Throttle, I need more cigars to fill up my third humidor!
