Hi , i juz kaypoh2 abit , IMO ,

Performance and light weight can be quite contradictory , unless we are talking about absolute performance machine , where superlight and tough materials like Magnesium alloys ( very costly stuff ) are used . Very expensive too !

Under normal cases , performance in power and speed are derived from high engine capacity , hence a much heavier chassis and body ...., higher consumption, more complex engine, costly to repair etc ....

Maintenance : i think it all begins with how you take daily/weekly/monthly care of your machine ... There is no "troublesome " Brands , but troublesome owners out there ...., agree some bikes are more costly to maintain becoz of expensive parts etc .....

Some machines need more attention while others would need less ....

So , if you spend some time to study yr machine and pay attention to it , be more sensitive to abnormal noises , road handling differences , u should be able to identify and arrest the problems and solve them early .... usually riders failed or ignore minor repairs which snowball to huge issues when the bike finally decided to stop moving ............

A very good way to get an answer from your question , would be to observe , which are the most commonly ridden bikes on the road .... they say alot about the " easy maintenance , cheap , economical hence its popularity "

S4 is a very good example of 400cc bikes .....

of course if u hv other preferences ... then u muz spend some time to ask why there are not many around ? , Why it is not popular ? why it is not easy to maintain , too thirsty , rare spares , high repair cost , difficult to repair etc ?

i think the filtering process will help u to decide yr ultimate machine ....:cheeky:

juz my 2 cents worth ....... hope u enjoy riding ....

Another bike you can consider - Suzuki GSR400. :thumb:

Current ride - Gilera ST200 (April 2011-present)

Previous rides - Suzuki GSR 400 (31 March 2008 - 2011)

Assumption is mother of all all ****-ups! :cheers :-P

Yeah, It uses the engine from GSXR400 but re-tuned for mid range power and higher torque. :D
