Stock Wave FC = 50-60km/l

:thumb: battlax for cubs!

our tire profile ald so thin, we gotta maximise whatever traction patch our tires have with the ground!

I think it depends how you look at it.

It's more expensive or less expensive depends on bike and how you look at it.

Remeber I came up a biker blog almost 8 years ago. Breaking down the cost of transport

The cleapest transport is break down in the following order. Cheapest first. Most ex last

Bike - 20K

Public transport - 23K

Taxi - 80K

Secondhand car - 110K

First Hand car. - 130K

BUT, There are alot of factors involved for this grouping

Bike will be cheapest if you choose a fuel efficient and low maintenance bike. eg CG125 or common bikes. all must be 2B

CG125 needless to say. We all know how low the running cost and maintenance cost is.

2B needless to say. Cost of servicing, insurance and road tax.

You must ride the bike for full 10 years without changing and hopefully no major problem .

Public transport will be a mixture of BUS, MRT and occasion cab. IF bus all the way. It will be cheaper than bike. (That is 2001 website base on prices in 2001).

TAXI here will be taking cab everywhere you go.

Secondhand car is not too much diff from first hand car due to higher maintenance.

Car standard lah.

Also for travelling pattern. The more u use the more savings u will get if you own a bike. AS all others fare usually have a fix starting price.

All the price stated is inclusive of almost everything. Fuel, maintenance parts. servicing. Road tax, insurance ERP, parking. But Minus traffice fines.

The more fines u have, needless to say, the cost of ownership goes up.

In my opinion. Bike nowadays don't really save much lah. WIth some much ERP gantry around. Do not be supprised MRT and bus can be cheaper.

But then again this part also have alot of variables.

U may pay more when owning a bike as to compare with bus and MRT. BUT

There's a few things BUS and MRT cannot provide and the price is priceless.

- U can go anytime and anywhere.

- U have you own free space(no need to squeeze) and garranteed seat.

- U save almost 50% of ur travelling time.

- U can go almost everywhere in SG (some place in SG is not accessible by bus or MRT.)

- U have less fustration when travelling bike (less squeeze. I can choose a longer route if I want to avoid jams. Bus and MRT is no way unless ur boss allows u to come to work at 10.30am and leave at 4pm)

- U can no need to see ugly singaporeans at work when travelling on Bus and MRT (road user also have but U can advoid it sometimes.)

For me the plus point is No need squeeze and jam with people on public transport.

I can go anywhere I want anytime. without paying extras during weird hours.

I can go out of the house later and still reach work place on time. And vice versa

Right now, I'm paying more than taking public transport cos new bike. This is due to the installment, and the daily operation cost of using abike.

When the installment ends. I will definately see a lower daily running cost.

yup. bikes is definitely cheaper IN THE LONG RUN, compared to public transport. But passion and fun is something we like to pay a lot more for.

 coz our tires very skinny, so it really make sense to choose soft compound tires over harder ones, for more traction.

bigger bikes may choose the latter since too much traction is not very economical..

PS: KR tires also not say very fat, so dun compromise too much!

.50cal Desert Eagles

You can't fit a .50 cal on a desert eagle.

Yes you can. I thought it was a famous firearm, non?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.50_Action_Express

Bro, Desert Eagle fires .50AE (action express) not the 50 CAL. 50CAL is used in heavy MGs or sniper rifles designed to take down armored vehicles. I know all this because I am an armchair warrior =)

Anyway, regarding to the topic. Even if taking bike is still more expensive then public transport, the cost is only slightly higher. In my case, I calculated traveling to work on cub vs public transport to be only a slight difference of $300-400 (my route doesn't have ERPs in it) per year. Taking public transport will take me 50mins to and another 50 mins back, that's 2 hours I can spend at home zzz.

Lol! SBF is awesome, can learn of firearms + bikes together.

Esp factored in maintenence, cost of parts, spending on modifications and improvements plus the big bomb of yearly insurance the cost savings may not be that big.

But it sure beats being forced to squeeze into unsanitary sardine cans populated randomly by people who like to bang into other passengers, cut queue, make excessive noise, molest (:p ) etc. SG public transport is not that bad internationally but I'll take my chances with playing with daredevil Malaysian cubs instead :D There is honor amongst thieves... and road users.

Anyway guys, for all your small arms needs.

http://world.guns.ru/main-e.htm

Now this, gentlemen, is a .50cal. The first round on the left. At 138mm, it definitely cannot be fitted on a desert eagle.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/84/Rifle_cartridge_comparison_w_scale.png/300px-Rifle_cartridge_comparison_w_scale.png

Anyway, back to maintenance costs and not high caliber rounds, pussies and penguins, i feel that the fact you spend a little more and save that precious sleeping time or makan time, its all worth it. I still remeber before i got my bike.Stand on the train, being tall and big sized, people stare at me as if its my fault i am handsome and tall, just ram myself in the train so that i wont be late for work etc.

I take 20 mins to go to school in the west. If i were to take the train and bus, about 1.5hours. I save 1h and 10 mins. I see my friends who stay near me, if lesson at 0830hrs, they got to leave house by at least 0700hrs while i can leave at 0800hrs, with time to spare to buy something to munch on.

Well if you guys really want to nitpick about the "fifty calibre" thing you CAN call a Desert Eagle a .50 cal, the bullet diameter being half an inch and all.

I did not mention the "AE" to make it ".50 AE" (Action Express 12.7x33), the politically correct definition of the pistol round but that doesn't mean it's completely wrong.

Try to see that my point is intended for humor and nitpicking ultimately ruins the fun for everyone.

In the meantime, have fun noting that firearms writers DO mention the term ".50 caliber pistol" as in the following example - mainly for an illustration for their size and power.

Hand Cannons by Duncan LongThis book gives a detailed look at the Desert Eagle variants as well other .50 caliber and other large semiauto pistols, revolvers, single-shot pistols from the famous .44 Magnum cartridge on up to the mammoth .50 BMG. Long evaluates these massive pistols and reveals how to tame their recoil and muzzle blast to improve their accuracy.

When I think about it, the cost of petrol for my bike is cheaper than paying for bus fare. The rest of the cost (maintenance, road tax, ERP, insurance, etc..) are indeed extra cost, which I'm willing to pay for the convenience of waking up later to go to work, not having to walk to the bus stop and wait for my bus and transfer, etc......
