self skid = tio summon?

As topic. i'm still quite a new rider, 9 months license nia. 2 months ago i had a self skid at a carpark, resulting in me breaking my left surgical neck area, therefore left upper arm can barely use. Hospital bills + cost to repair bike, now two months later tio slap with summon for $200 and 6 demerit ? seriously is this how it works ?

Secondly, yes. That's how it works. I have friends who self skid, bleeding all over, pick up their bike, put it at the side of the road and call a cab or a friend to pick that up. If you call for ambulance, the police will be automatically alerted. You called for an ambulance right?

well yup self skid if ambulance called sure police io later on will ask u to come meet up for a statement...but i guess depends on ur luck if they wanna give u the summon...

i myself had a self skid on 1st lane on e expressway when a red car abruptly cut into my lane..called e ambulance....weeks later met up w the io to do statement....he say i may get a summon for self skiddin...i jus told him tts alright...im jus glad to be alive..jus glad didnt get run over ....a week later a letter from tp stated that since im such a cute fella tt they decided to advice me to ride safe in future n to ride on w no summons......

Can TS make an appeal? I think summon for s/s in a carpark of all places is a bit over the top and unnecessary. Especially where no one was at risk, and TS did need medical assistance.

 

TS was after all likely to be just finding a place to park, slipped, or lost too much speed and fell. It happens. The authorities should penalise the real hazards on the road.

my guess if you are not able to have proper control of your bike, you are deemed to have ridden carelessly.

I "self-skidded" 3 days after getting my license. Actually I went over a Huge plank... Then the TP wanted to summon me... My dad was so pissed. Explaining that the plank caused my skidding, end up no charge... So if u have a valid reason I think the TPs are quite reasonable. The only reason why they charge u for self-skid is because they have reasons to think that u are mucking around in the carpark...

Yea i wrote an appeal to TP. any idea how long does it take to get a reply ah ? Oh i din call ambulance , i park bike there and took cab to hospital LOL. Well yea, police was called up and etc :\

Self skid = unable to control vehicle in a proper manner -> unable to react in time/make judgement -> unable to slow down.

 

Thats what TP said to my friend who self skid, in the end he said 2 words after all these broken-down words, "reckless driving" + "unable to control vehicle well", 9points.

yeah self skid den up ambulance they can charge u 1)fail to control vehicle blah blah or if u tell them maybe your chain broke or your tyre punctured den they will charge u with 2)fail to maintain vehicle properly ... both also got 6 points ahh ... so next time self skid if u can call cab and arrange your bike to be towed privately .. then no case lah .. but for me tyre puncture on Benjamin Shares Bridge buang and LOC until up ambulance ... make statement to TP "while riding suddenly back tyre wobble and lost control" end up $200 + 6points lah

self skidded few years back along KPE becos trying to siam a wreckless car and ended up at the road shoulder. police car pull over, junior mata came and wanted to book me but i f*** him saying he's more interested in booking me than whether i'm injured or not (actually got bleeding due to abrasion wounds on hands n legs but nothing serious). then SGT mata came out to find out what's the problem and after seeing my condition, asked me if i need medical help (think he meant ambulance). i said no and can ride myself to nearby polyclinic. he very nice, told me ride safely and then they just drove off.
