Erm... No leh.. I think it is better in the sense that I can give more modulation. I need to turn more to achieve same throttle on the 06 I think. But then again could be me getting used to my own bike, cause I adjusted my throttle free play to none.

isnt that the same effect by installing a quick throttle?

Posted

Throttle lag at 3~5k rpm. I'm not exactly sure when this happens, but whenever I want to pull hard after a slow speed hairpin turn on higher gears, the bike has totally no power. Almost felt as if I was falling. I think it occurs around 4k rpm when you try to throttle hard.

i thought only US version has the side effect. Are UK version also has the same?o_O

Just tried a friend's new 07 R1 yesterday and took it for a relatively long ride... For those 04 - 06 riders who are wondering what are the differences:

07 Throttle is abit insensitive, I think it's due to YCC-T. Same problem on 07 R6 I tried. But it is no issue pulling out of corners, infact I think it is better for handgun riders who ride the R1 like riding cub. But I still prefer the sensitive throttle on my 06. Bike has almost same power, which I couldn't really feel the difference. But there is probably more pulling power on the 6k to 10k rpm range.

Some of the most outstanding things about the 07 R1 are the brakes and the slipper clutch. The brakes are really much more efficient on high speed stops like from >120km/h, not much diff for slow speed. But it lacked abit of initial biting feel, but that's okay I guess.

The best thing which I felt on the 07, was definitely the slipper clutch. I could go into corners in very high revs and downshift by just blipping abit, or sometimes not even blipping. Without having to blip so much means I can brake better, harder, later. Not so much for road use, but I think it's very effective on the track.

Other than that, it is still a R1. Posture and everything else still the same. Always exciting.

Interesting! Do you feel any improvement in low end torque with this new 4 valve/cyl engine and the YCC-i variable length intake?

Yes I'm surprised too. The US version has a lag at 5.5k rpm if I'm not wrong. This lag is around 4k. It feels different too. The US lag is apparently a result of ECU fault. But the lag I experienced was more of like a poor engine tuning, IMO.

Very surprisingly, no.

In my most humble opinion, it actually just feels like another 06 R1. Just with better brakes and slipper clutch. The mid-range does seem to come in with abit more power earlier, but that is just so mild that I don't know if I really felt it.

To be honest I don't know if there is a problem with the bike, I tried not to suspect it cause it's a totally new bike, which is 1 day old with 23km clocked on its mileage. It's got this weird ticking sound everytime I on the bike, I hope it's not what that's affecting the lag, power or anything...

In other words, those who "upgraded" from 04-06 to 07, ought to be kicking themselves in the balls?

I believe upgrading the rider is a more worthy investment ;)

hey gnayed, are u facing the prob on engine dying on u whilst on road riding...specifically when clutching-in after throttling and it just dies...nv even idle for a while...the rpm need just went straight to a zero reading...so far its happened to me quite a no. of times...however during which...just need to restart...carry on riding...after awhile it'll be gone...is this the same engine stalling problem that u guys are talking bout earlier on? :giddy:
