whats is the damage cost for the magneto coil and rectifier..?? any idea??:(

Occasional whacking top end might be the cause of the problem..

is it normal when whacking top end will coz tat?? maybe from previous owner i think..i never hit the redline yet for this bike..own it less than a month..still trying to understand more about the bike characteristic..

ME!!

 

but mine is K2 600. I supposed how it happened is the previous onwer didn't change batt even thou it's reaching it's lifespan. That's y it damaged the rectifier and in turn damaged the coil. That's y i sold my bike away.

 

based on my model, damage cost is about 1k++. cos in order to change coil, hav to down engine...

 

anyone hav similiar problem... that's wat i encounted..

For the 750s, a few of them already encounter this problem..But your seems very early..They encounter it after around 1 to 1 1/2 years of usage..

but sound funny leh... frequent high revs will kill coil and rectifer...

cannot be over voltage wat... it's usually undervoltage that kills it...

Changing of battery doesn't help. It is due to the coil burnt by constant high rpm. You see, a coil generate more electricity as the rpm goes higher. But of course there is a max limit to how much the coil can generate. If you are always running at high rpm, the chances of you getting a burnt coil is higher. Apperantely Suzuki had changed the coil to a new design, which is about the same as CBR1000. Maybe to save weight. Thus maybe that explain why it doesn't last. By the way it will cost you $300+ for the coil along. Rectifier not sure.

thanks bros for all the info given..latest update..just taken my bike back from workshop..mechanic informed that my magneto coil was ok..I doesnt have a chance to look when they open it to check coz i have not arrive yet..but they changed the rectifier..mechanic claim that rectifier taken from hayabusa when i notice that the rectifier wasnt the same as the original..is it compatible??

any way to prevent? any recall like honda? hehe~

perhaps it was designed with the thought for street or random track use?

 

for race usage, it would be more sensible to take off the charging unit and free up a bit more horses?

 

this works for carb models, but i do not know the electronics of FI systems... whether or not this can be supported.

Might not be a problem by using a rectifier off a haya..My PGM 4 was running on S4 rectifier after the OEM gt fried..Alot of ppl's PGM runs on GSXR400 rectifier..
