as for your question, there issant a definate answer, because topend overhual consist of a few parts and seals you might wan to look at the below breakdown.

 

workmanship - can check with ur trusted mechanic.

exhuast valve - 8pcs

intake valve - 8pcs

valve seals - 16pcs

vavle shims - ??? depends reusable

top cylinder gasket - 1x

top water jacket - 4x

timing chain - 1x

timing chain tensioner + gasket -1x

etc.

 

u can call guanhoe to check part price before u commit. because mechanic cannot tell u the final price until they open up ur engine.

valves sometimes are reuasable, so long no heavy leakage, u might also need to check out the inlet pipe, there is an O-ring, require replacement.

If you wanna new bike feel, i suggest u change everything as listed, the engine will run like new...

get those small small packets of those gel thingies. after every use, just throw one in. it will absorb moisture.

as for those already form molds, wash ur gloves.

I went to get my bike checked at HKL if there's any problem as i just got it 3months ago. The mech checked my compression ratio and there was heavy leakage, almost 100% leakage to be exact. He gave me a rough quote of $1500 as they duno what exactly have to be changed untill they open the engine up. So wanted to check if that's the norm.

Guys need some help i was riding at nite as u all noe its abit cold but i found out that my temp is quite high its 220 fareinheit and i sped up abit it goes down 215 but when i cruise again it goes up again and i just change to engine ice b4 that the toyota coolant worst do anyone got any idea wats happening?And the fan switch on when it hit 215

Actually that is quite ok. but always prepare +- 200-300. but as RickTM quote, u can actually just take that whole list of things there and email guan hoe for pricing. they will reply to u. but those are just parts pricing.

ya, gixxer especially 01-04 engines is like that, compression leakage via valves can also 299 on stock ratio.

for $1500 i would say, there should be alot alot of stuffs to be changed. I can have all my 16pcs of valves changed with that $1500...

if you mentioned that you changed engine ice, there shouldnt be any problem caused by water system not bleeded properly...

again night riding depends on city or cruising, if you seeing 220F or 215F on cruising at night, better get ur bike to a proper mechanic.

 

do you run power commander on ur bike? -bike running too lean = high temp

does ur bike sounds funny or lack performance? - ex 1 cylinder down caused by spark plug?
