Anyone has problem with heat around the pegs killing out boots?!

Apparently, the sole of my Sidi boots came off when i rode with my GS. Never had any problems with it on my jap sportsbike. And i thought, "oh well, it might be ageing of the boots since it's been a couple of years although i don't use it often".

Then i took out my SAF boots and the same thing happens when i went touring. Only then i realised it's the heat causing the adhesive to wear off and the sole falling apart.

Anyone having the same problem?

What boots do u guys ride with when on long rides?

I have a 1150GSA btw.

NA: Tell us more about ur plan! The malaysia part that is......

Planning not done yet.

We can meet up and plan togather.

Still tossing the idea to make it exclusively for BMW or also open for others. :p

Ok... how about throwing up ideas till the meeting, which is quite a bit to go from today...

Since it is a day ride....

Makan Trip?

Twisty?

Hard Riding or Leisurely ride....??

1) Paloh / Kluang

2) Tangkak (for their beef noodles!)

3) Mersing / Desaru

4) Kuala Klawang (M'sia Gap) This is near KL liao!

Anymore suggestions??

Seriously think this should be open for everyone unless the majority here thinks otherwise.

I dismantled the headlight to do some cleaning and look what I found. I expected to find some rust but not to this extent. The outside is still beautifully chromed but the inside is covered with rust. I used lots Autosol to remove the rust but the black patches remain.

My first bike made in Taiwan also had this problem but I thought BMW would use better material.

Also, I am unable to remove the glass to clean the reflector. Anyone knows if this can be done?

Hiya, Puff,

Sand down the rust with 800 grit. Use anti-rust to coat the insides of the headlight shell before re-install. I also used one of those rust conversion products too.

Pre-treatment

Post-treatment

The glass can be removed; you need to undo the wire clips that surrounds the back. Use glass cleaner to clear away the fogging that builds up underneath the glass. Do it at your own risk, don't break anything.

Cheers

Hi Mr Cat,

Are you referring to those liquid compounds that harden the rust to a black solid? I have the Turtle Wax Rust Master which I use on any rust I find. But it does leave a stain if I am not careful.

Thanks for the tip. Will try to figure out how to remove and clean the lens. Don't worry. If I break mine, I will go around and try to "kapo" other Roadster's headlight. ;)

Hi guys...

Its been awhile...

Just update my situation.

I took the bike out from PML and had it go for a second opinion. And guess what, my chasis is uneffected and only my front frame side shifted. However, it was unable to be salvaged as the rubber bushing were damage. But I'm glad as the diagnostic were done professionally with full detail, and not just by visual.

One thing that I learned is that to test whether a chasis is damage or not, you have to strip the entire front end to have a proper analysis.

I would like to extend Team 27 & STOC for helping me with the solution.
