Hi guys, just to check with you guys ,Pml quote me $42500 for a gs without pannier and with pannier it will cost about $1.8 to $2.7 more depending with the type of pannier while for the gsa they quote $46k without pannier and with pannier it will cost $48.5k.

Its it worth it to go to pml ...... Need you senior advice... regarding the pricing.

Hey benz

I'm not sure if electronics stores still carry these, I'm guessing Sim Lim might still have these, not too sure though ...

Hey bro, thanks for directing me to simlim. Found it. It's getting very rare these days to still be using cassette head unit... Haha.

Thanks once again.

i have checked with a local PI and they quoted $45,500 for a full spec GSA. ie, the bike is equipped with ASC, ABS, ESA, On Board Computer, Tyre pressure monitor, Side panniers, LED Signal lights, Fog Lights and Heated grips(I think cos i did not ask about this. I presumed it is equipped with). Somemore price including Insurance.

Worth it or not, it is rather subjective as some pple value local warranty from PML.

I am also thinking of going for PI GSA... :)

Hi bro, just to share with you, i did went to a PI and was qouted $39k for a GS that comes with two panniers and 1st party insurancance OTR. I too am thinking of getting my GS from PI. If you notice my previous thread, the senior bros did suggest that if the difference in price is great then it's worth it and PI will not cover you in case of a major recall and if you need to send to PML for repairs, they will ask for a lump sum of money before repairing. Do PM me if you are interested in getting a GS from PI, hope to hear from u...cheers

What warranty are they talking abt , i hv read somewhere in this thread that someone have difficulty claiming from pml. I am not worry abt recall as ,i nvr heard any recall from pml and even if there are, they will act blur..... i think we should boikot pml.

So if you are planning to get from pi pls pm me the detail and we can go down to the shop.

Should be more worried about recall for such a bike full of electronics and sensors. The 1200GS(A) were/are highly in demand and i believe some stuffs have poorer QC.

I won't be surprise to see a big recall for such a bike. But of course, we hope there isn't and everything is top notch in quality and reliability.

Worse come to worse, head down to KL for service and boycott PML. Jason had good experiences with them.

KL Autobavaria really won my heart last time round! How i wish i can go there and service my bike every now and then...

If a PI bike can save you more then 5k then go for it, otherwise, you might as well consider PML. :dozed:

KL side would honour any international recalls if there is any.

Anyway, it is just a short ride away. :cheeky:

I am not too concerned about warranty and recall.. cos am thinking of self importing tho.. :p

If there is a need to claim warranty, then like jason said; head down to KL for warranty claims... hopefully dont need to claim d best! :thumb:

Hi guys,

I just love the look of naked bikes and have intention to get a r1100r roadster.

Dont really like the looks of the newer models, prefer the classic look.

Understand most on the market are more than 10yrs old, can someone advise what to expect if i get 1?

Lets say, a relatively well maintained one, how much should i set aside in case of breakdown, what usually needs to be changed for an r1100r 10yrs or older.

Ive read that a fairly new gsa developed a abs issue and needs $3k to fix. I think that is pretty rubbish, shouldnt there be an option of repair instead of replacing?

Anyway, i am riding a cb750 now, needless to say, its 'bulletproof'. I understand parts price between a honda and a bmw is going to be a fair difference, im more concerned with the reliability on the whole.

I want a bike that will spend more time on the road than in the workshop.

Any inputs?

The older generation beemers are very very reliable because it's simple, like your CB750. These 1100/1150 boxers had enough years to prove themselves.

If the engine is good, which will most probably be unless abused heavily AND not taken care of, look out for the clutch and shaft. This 2 are big ticket items to be wary of.

Parts are definitely more expensive as u have know but as far as reliability is concerned, the older generation beemers will not fail. Hall sensor is an exception here but I do not have any issues with it till now, fortunately. On the 1100, u also do not have servo to be worried about.

It's your call. The boxer engine and unique suspension brought me here. And i confess, Ewan and Charley are culprits too. :D
