Hi guys, wanna ask those DIY junkies..

Ever tried removing the speedo/tachometer? Is it safe to do so? Problems as in ECU will lock if any tampering of parts or electronics.. In my case, no electronics will be involved. I just need to remove the

meter thats all.

Cos if its simple, i've got some things which i need to do. Appreciate any valuable inputs.

Hi guys, am currently on R1150RT.

Been enjoying the ride and it time for tyres change.

Need your kind advise on the following;

As given the stock rear tyres is 170/60-ZR 17.

Just wonder can a tyres size of 180 be fitted in?

Likewise, any personal recommendation of tyres brand you preferred?

Lastly, where will you too recommended for a tyres change?

Thank for all positive comments.

It will much be appreciate to help addressing my doubts.

Thank in advance guys!

Cheers

Can. 3 cir-clips behind the dash (assuming you are talking about the R1200XX), unplug from the harness.

Cheers

Yes bro its for R1200GSA actually.. But i believe the both GS and GSA shd be of the same components though. Only tat worries me since this is my 1st continental ride so im thinking twice if im meddling with it. If its a Jap bike like all my previous rides, i've got no worries at all.

And another noob question..

To those who went offroad with the GS/A, i understand ABS need to be turned off to prevent skids during last min braking.

But is it necessary to turn OFF the ASC as well?

Still learning the ways of this bike and i apologise if my qns sometimes seems too stupid to answer cos for me its great to learn new stuff.

Thank for w advise.

As 170 kinda 'rare' so though getting a common size of 180 will be easier.

So what profile for size 180 fit R1150RT?

180/55 or 180/60?

Hi lighters, it's a very subjective question. Not sure what is your rating for vigorous but for me I feel my 12GS is vibrating more and noisier then my previous 1150GS. Hope this help. One thing for sure, my 12GS consume more petrol then my 1150GS, does your too?

1991 - 1992 = Yamaha RD125LC YPVS

1992 - 1993 = Suzuki GSXR 400 K

1993 - 1994 = Yamaha Vmax1200

1994 - 1995 = Honda Magna 750

1997 - 2002 = Honda ST11 Pan European

2002 - 2010 = BMW R1150GS

2010 - ------ = BMW R1200GS

Saw a GS with full Alu topbox and panniers along CTE this morning around 8plus....

To the rider,

Boss, you are my idol. The way you do the lane spiltting with those panniers and at that kinda speed. You are the Champion. :p For me no topbox, no panniers also couldn't catch up... :thumb:

Hi biker20,

Mine 1200GSA also about 14-15 km very similar to your GS.

Your dented rim very similar to one of my good friend (VL)... no choice just suck thumb loh.

It is still best to change to sproke rim much stronger.

good morning bros, i am learning more about bmw motorcycles thru this thread here. Please guide me along if i am wrong.

1. A 1150gs and a 1200gs should have different displacement rite? meaning different engine capacity. if yes, should the fuel consumption be still the same?

2. some of the bros are commented that their rims are dented. did they mean that PML dented their rims when they go for servicing?

I am in the process of getting a bmw motorcycle, and am very concerned about aftersales servicing. Please advice.
