I am new to this forum, Can someone tell me more about 2003 R1150R Rockster? is it a good and reliable bike? how about the maintainence?

Also for a 2003 rockster with coe till 2013, is $12k a price too high to purchase?

haha... strongly considering.... sick of riding a soul-less bike....

do consider seriously, those termites dont give a hoot about germans

going GS or GSA way? about 80% of bmw owners are made up of such...any BMW gathering anywhere in the world, GS / GSA riders are the biggest group

wanna ride with madness?

Should be going for the GS. I think the GSA is kinda bulky.. and I am not very tall. 1.74m and I already gotta tip toe a bit when I tried the GS.

By the way, if I wanna fix boxes on the GS, is the rack universal? ie once I fix the racks for side boxes, I can fit bmw, touratech or H&B boxes? Or do I have to buy racks that are specific to each model of box?

different boxes different racks...not universal.

I was using the vario boxes and recently change to the GSA alu boxes.

I am riding a GS but it looks more like a mini GSA now with GSA spokes rims and alu boxes....GS is good enough

I stripped all attachment down from my GSA, look like skinny monkey from rear.

Mount up a set of vario box.

The total weight savings is amazing, bike is extremely nimble and throttle response is fantastic.:p

I'm about your height.. No prob on the GSA.. Though i tip toe too.. Its looks and feel bulky.. But once on the move.. U will be amazed on how nimble the bike is but yet so big and heavy.

Yes wacko is right.. The bmw alu top box is ard sgd $800+ with locks from pml but i dun think it comes with the rack. Need to ask.

If every dollar matters then you can perhaps scout in ebay.

Seen a few of it both used and brand new. Price wise for new is not much of a difference but there is still a difference.

Hey clement, how u bro? Been a while..

Bike Pro has quite a number of used bmw bikes. Last i went down saw 4 of it on display, one being the 1150 and the rest the 1200 model. Also saw the K model if not mistaken.

But dun know abt the authorised thingy though..

Are the other kind of boxes cheaper than bmw ones? ie touratech, H&B etc? Based on experience, is it better to go with bmw boxes or aftermarket ones, in terms of durability or any other factors?

The GSA1200 Alu boxes(Icecream Box) are designed and made by Touratech as OEM for BMW.

To me they look the Best and compliment the GSA overall look.

Understand the older GSA1150 Alu boxes were designed and made by BMW and feedback from users were not that favorable.

So for the GSA1200 BMW decided to let the SME Touratech design and manufacture the panniers and top boxes for them.

The R1200 boxer engine GSA sounds like a Sewing Machine to me when i first rode it...but it been a Excellent ride like what the rest of the guys said.
