If that's the case , ask them did they change anything , or just tie down the screw. If they did that, I suggest they change the gasket or the upper case together.

Thanks Murpies. The last time they told me that they clean up and screw back only

Are you riding an agent bike or PI? If agent bike go.back to them since it's less than a year young. You can try to claim under international warranty at pml or else try the agent across the causeway. Do feedback about the international warranty claim. Cheers.

Bro Tofuman

I am riding a PI bike. Therefore, I dont think I can get PML to assist with the warranty claim. However, I am not too sure if I can get warranty claim across the causeway. Few weeks back I went to KL for servicing and I was told that they are not able to repair bcos they afraid that it will further damage the whole switch. Back then, the high beam switch was not faulty.

If in case that I am unable to claim its warranty, any bike shop there is to repair the switch?

Thank You..

Best if you call pml or the agent in kl to check on the international warranty claim.

If all else fails just order the assembly and replaced.

Thanks a Lot.. It would certainly look bad if BMW Motorrad International does not provide international warranty claim even if we buy from PIs. Cos I believe that all BMW bikes, regardless of agent or PI comes from the same factory that manufactures them.. It would be a shame if PI bikes are not recognised..

To be frank : that why PI bike and Agent bike support is so much different.

The fact that you can get hold of a model that is available through the local distributor via PIs is already a shame to Motorrad. Ideally vehicles should be sold only by the distributors that were appointed by the manufacturers when they were setting up their worldwide distributor network.

The distributors obviously will try their best not to service your PI bike because you've purchased the bike possibly at a much cheaper pice than what they're selling at.

But manufacturers, being manufactures, will likely 'force' distributors to attend to PIs since as you've said, it's from the same factory. This they will do, but first they will adopt your bike first at a fee, and you will be charged higher prices in parts or labour or whatever the distributor seems fit.

This PI vs. Distributor war has been on for long and you would know it's not just bikes. Supercars are the same as well. Some car manufacturers have already enforce regional warranties whereby your vehicle is only covered in the region where it's bought. But if the vehicle was first sold to Europe, and then PIed to Singapore for example, the warranty will be voided and it's up to the customer to pay up. Or go fight with the shop that brought in the bike to do warranty replacements.

But in your case, you may still have a case since you said BMW still has international warranty.

Just as I said : it the support from the individual distributor . Go back to Yur PI shop and ask for the support . If u got it from authorize agent u won't be ending up in this stage. Pml will sure warranty that n that's for sure. I personally experience with them regarding of all sorts of issue I had encounter n it all resolve . Thumbs up for pml.

I tink you should go back to the PI shop that you bought your bike from. They should be able to get the warranty for you since they brought in the bike. Just my 2 cents worth.

Thanks to All who have replied.. I know the war between agents and PIs is long and extensive.. My belief is that whether we buy it from agent or PI, we are still a family.. Sadly I am not going to support PML after what has happened to my GSA Bro.. But as it is, I still feel that BMW Motorrad International should look into this matter regardless of where it is bought from.. I just would like to know if Motorrad is going to support its customers or haggling about the issue on PI or agent..

No offence to anyone who is either supporting agent or PI.. since I have made my choice, my choice was to own a BMW and be a Beemer.. not to be an agent or PI..

I suggest sending your vin serial number to bmw motorrad via email.

I almost purchased gsa from a PI but the warranty is not the same as the authorized dealer. I always thought that warranty is a legal obligation by all manufacturers.

I did not consider authorized dealer as I felt that their distribution cost to singapore should not be that high, benchmarking against PI.

In the end, I didn't manage to buy any. It's sad.

Hi F800GS owners

I have owned the F800GS for about 9 months now. Thus far, there have been no problems with my bike except that the ' Info' button occasionally gets stuck in the combination switch after the bike is washed or get drenched in rain. I have feedback to the bike shop but was told that this is a known issue amongst the '13 model. Worse is there isnt an offer to replace the faulty switch. A couple of days back, the high beam lever is not catching the switch and thus I am unable to switch off the high beam.

Any suggestions on what I can do to rectify? Do I get a new combination switch and replace? Do I contact BMW Motorrad to get advice on this matter? Does the bike have an international warranty to be claimed from? Is there anyone who is able to make some repairs on the combination switch?

Please help.. Thank You

Bro blackangel1081. Just go back to the PI that sold u the bike like bro momo mentioned. don't leave them alone when they say "it's known issue" and brush u away. Ask for a replacement nicely since its under warranty. It might take a while and probably not as straightforward as PML dealing with warranty claims but the PI should still settle ur warranty claim. Worst comes to worst just get the part number for the switch and buy online. Just settled a warranty claim from PI and speaking from experience. PM me if u want more info

On a side note. I was jogging past PMLs used vehicle building beside next to IKEA Bukit merah. Can't believe that's how they treat used bikes.. Out in the open car park for the night. I think there's a difference in bringing your adventure bike for proper off road abuse versus outright neglect. And that's prospect customers bike for crying out loud.. And they call themselves agent...

Hi

I have had this problem on my F650 Twin.

Did many checks but could not find the cause.

The problem just went out. Came back once in a blue moon.

Anyway it happens when engine is idle, clutched or neutral, doesnt matter its gear what clutched in.

Tested the F800R tonight.

First and second gear clutch in, the bike won't stall.

However, third gear onwards, whenever I cutch in to a rolling stop, the bike will stall (for the first 5 mins of riding).

After riding another 10mins. The bike worked fine again.

Clutch in fully and closed throttle at third gear onwards, nothing happened and idling at slightly above 1k rpm as per normal.

May be fuel injector issue or issue related to air intake or idler control device

Funny, gotta visit PML I guess.

Anyone has similar issue?

* Honda Varadero XL125V2 * Yamaha Spark T135LC 08 * Honda Foresight FES250 * BMW F650GS K72 * Honda Super4 Revo CB400 NC42 * Yamaha Spark T135LC 12 * BMW R1200GS LC K50 *

It happened to me in the first 8mths only.. now 15mths into the bike and everything is fine..

But engine is very sensitive to petrol, especially 98.. rpm will be slightly irregular .. 95 the bike is running v smoothly.

Hi,

Anyone encounter any issue with their GS liquid cool on brake fluid? This is the second time i see brake fluid leak from the cover. Thanks. Any advice ? http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/22/y8ymusy7.jpg

My 2014 GSLC did the same thing.

I removed some brake fluid with a new clean straw and inspect/clean the seal, refitted the cover.

Did not leak any more.

For the PI/PML BMW issue, put yourself in PML their shoes.

Nothing personnel, it strictly business.

Think of it this way, PI cheaper and use the money saved ad-hoc later to pay PML if u choose them to recover your bike defect.

The choice is yours to make.

Hmmm, interesting.

I did a few more tests and the findings are as follow:

After the bike has been rested for 1~2 days, during the first start up, the idling speed will hunting up and down.

Cut off the engine using the kill switch will not stabilize the idling speed.

However, if I switch off the bike by turning the key to off position and restart the bike, the idling speed will stable at slightly above 1k rpm. No more fluctuation afterwards.

During riding, sometimes the bike will stall during the first 5-10mins (clutched in and the engine stalled.)

After continued riding for awhile, this issue will disappear. No more stalling afterwards.

Quite headache.
