Bro, i think u better have ur tire pressure checked out and maybe check your timing when u go down for servicing. Low tire pressure will cause poor FC.. N if timing is high, it will also eat more fuel when at stop..

2002 / Road King FLHR / 15-16litres = 200-210km

i never go to reserve so usually when i pump to the max, its abt 15-16litres.

thats abt 13-14km per litre.

cheers!

Bro,is your Roadking EFI model? I think mine is about the same F.C with u. Do u think that normal for our Roadking? U are pumping which kind of petrol, OCT 98 or 95?

hi whiteflash. i doubt its normal cause my other buddies on RK is getting better fuel consumption. at least 18km/ltr.

i am on bassani exhaust. maybe thats the cause? i dunno...

mine is carb. petrol varies.. but mostly OCT 95.

cheers!!

Yo bro, no worries... my tyre pressure is regularly checked... :thumb:

idling is 700+ rpm

the bad FC is maining due to all those thirsty performance mods done by the previous owners...

so do think twice abt performance mods if one is worried abt FC...

@twdude i dont think my fc is bad. i just feel that other riders on nightsters are getting better FC than mine. just thinking if my ride is somehow faulty in the fuel system part. by the way 700rpm seems quite low. isnt it bad for the engine to idle that low.

@maxmad i dont throttle real hard bro,no tach meter. this is how i always ride. gear 1to2-50km/h 2to3-80km/h 3-4-105km/h 4to5-135km/h . in sg cruise on highway on 4th gear only, seldom use 5th in sg.

recommended idle rpm should be around 1000. not any less than 800.

i read from some forums in the states, mentioning that low idle will harm the engine.

since lean settings will slowly damage the engine, i believe idling at low rpms will do the same.

that explains for your higher fuel consumption, it is okay to go on 5th gear if your speed is more than 80 kmh

Yo bro, mine's '06 carb model... carb can run at much lower rpm than FI...

the slow idling will not damage the engine, idling is consider no load condition.

and ya, tat explains y ur FC so bad... u r dragging ur gears too much imho...

go on 5th gear when crusing on sg highways, keep the 4th for the small roads... let'em hear the potato sound with the low rpm... kekeke :thumb:
