Hey guys, i wanna ask abt jettings. If i were to do normal jettings for example at abboy, do i need to keep re-jetting after awhile? What abt the jd jet kit? Do i need to re-jet after some time also? Cos fm wad i understand jd jet kit is a plug and play thingy.

Plug and play for temperate countries.. not for our tropical climate. There is a difference in relative humidity and air density.

In my humble opinion... its a waste of money and fuel.

The fastest DRZs at Pasir Gudang don't even need to use this kit.

I know who fastest. Haha. But my main concern is whether i have to keep re-jetting every now and then. Is it a norm?

My stock bike is getting only 155km before open reserve.

Seems kinda bad right?

What should I do if I intend to increase fuel efficiency? (Performance not important)

Any advice?

By stock u mean u got brand new and never did anything to it?

If thats the case i think u must be doing over 139km/h each time youre on the bike.

For mine i can reach over 170km before going to reserve.

Futhermore, im using vpower since i got the bike.

A big fan and i dont mind the price just as long my bike feels lighter.

Anyway, do get your bike check.

I used to asked the same question.

So anyway, u want it loud, powerful and legal.

I guess theres none.

If u want it ok2 loud, powerful and legal, i think most will says its yoshi.

But please dont say its expensive cost u want a pipe that got a little of everything.

Oh and btw, how fast and furthest you can ride on spore road without feeling scared?

So sit back relax and enjoy the ride..

Because a mechanically dead component using fixed jets and needles.. there is no 'perfect' setting that can be achieved. A perfect fuel/air mixture for perfect combustion is 12 parts of air to one part of fuel.

The idle jet takes care of low rpm fuel metering along with the fuel mixture screw setting... the taper of the main jet needle, clip height of the needle and the size of the main jet caters for high rpms.

With all these players.. there is no way you can get perfect fuel/air ratio from low rpms to max rpms with a carb... only fuel injection systems can be close to the ratio.

Because of this inherent problem with needles and jet sizes... the bike is either going to perform good at low rpms or at high rpms.

No mechanic in the world can get the rejetting right at the first go.. it has to be a fluke shot. It is a trial an error thing till you get the best average performance out of the bike.

for my bike, the grade of fuel affected my FC. When i use 95, I had to switch to reserve ard 160km-165km, but after switching to 98, i constantly am able to switch to reserve only after hitting 185-190km.

happens to anyone as well?

does anyone here top up yr bike with 92? i did mine.... got mileage ard 160km-170km before switching to reserve....

did a try with 95.... mileage increase ard 190km-200km before reserve....

is this the normal mileage for a 1st hand bike should have? should it be better since its all stock (after running in)?

biting_point & raptor...care to comment? thanks

Fuel with higher octane rating produces more power as it burns faster and hotter.. heat is energy. Because it produces more power.. you are actually using lesser fuel to achieve the same amount of torque and horsepower.

And if you use good quality engine oil.. exercise throttle control... you can go to at least 220 km per full tank before reserve.

Help..

Noticed that my Delta exhaust L clamp at the passenger footpeg has split into 2 pieces- the vertical and the horizontal. I can only think of welding to solve the problem, any shops do this?

Hmm I guessing that is "dry air" or water in my gas tank. I just overhauled my engine and replace coil this august. I am not sure hope is nothing serious. Shall observe till my next tank of gas.

does anyone here used a lowering kit on their DRZ 400SM? am looking to upgrade to this model but one factor is i'm not tall enough to reach the ground on stationary. any feedbacks?

Another option is to "soften" the shocks. So when u sit on the bike, ur weight will lower the bike. Not too much tho. Cos it will look ugly.

Does anyone here know where i can get the 4 side panels for my DRZ? dont need the tank and the tank shrouds.

Any shops tt sell it? and how much is the price roughly?

Thanks in advance guys.
