Anyone noticed that the SYM300i consumes engine oil?

I just serviced my bike and the level was at max.

2000km later, the level dropped to half.

Anyone with similar experience?

what engine oil are you using ? what grade ?

it's normal that the engine oil drop 100 to 300ml with that kinda mileage ran

Hi,

I'm using Liquimoly fully synthetic 10w50

Thanks for your reply. Looks like it's time to standby a 1L bottle at home.

10w50 is too thick for our bike, tried it before give good low end power but at higher speed it's feel draggy

5w40 fully syn gives me the best mileage and power

I feel 10W50 give me more mileage less vibration but slightly less power than 10W40.

maybe will give 5w40 a try.. BTW what brand u using?

I'm using Shell Helix Ultra 5w40 all along

just changed to motul 7100 both felt the same but motul definitely make my bike more responsive.

10w50 is definitely smoother but its laggy when it comes to acceleration

Sorry guys, don't mind if I ask a question on the servicing and spare parts question on the bike as I'm considering the GTS 200.

http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php/311516-Sym-GTS-300i-200-evo-(joymax)?p=6897208&viewfull=1#post6897208

From a very old post from here, it mentioned that the parts are expensive.

And, I have heard similar from a workshop too.

Is it really the case or something has changed now? with newer model?

But on the other hand, a later post in the SYM GTS 200 group had great fuel economy with it.

Can advise?

Thanks.

what kinda parts are you talking about ?

full service is $320

air filter is about $28

brake pads full set front and back is $50~60

oil change about $30

fuel economy I'm getting 33 km/L constant 90~110km/h riding on expresway

good power save me alot of money this bike :thumb:

Thanks for the info.

:p

I never do any "full" service on my previous bike.

Other than that, it seems about the same price as my previous 250cc bike.

What I meant is that the old post I have quoted say the parts are expensive and the workshop guy told me the bike is more difficult to repair compare to a honda model he mentioned.

I interpret as, on the general, if the bike parts breakdown, the cost of repair is higher.

So, would like to know if this is true? If yes, by roughly how much.

Or, has newer model of the GTS solve the problem?

maybe you can find out what kinda parts and what honda model he is talking about, if not I'm not sure how to share my experience with you

so far my bike has not given me any issue

btw I'm riding the newer model of Joymax 300i if you're talking about GTS200 Im not sure about the build and etc

Noted and thanks.

Yes, I'm looking at the GTS 200 instead.

But after thinking a bit, I realize my question is irrelevant.

Coz particular to the new model, breakdown should be lesser.

We would probably only know when the bike get older.

By that context, I would also presume the comments I have mentioned also referring to the older model.

Proberbly the roll over sensor activated when you corner too low. Causing it to kill the engine.

Which bike are you riding?

I'm riding a Joyride 200i Evo. It happened twice. Once while on engine warm up on main stand.

Another after 2 minutes engine warm up and turning out of carpark.

This is looking bad...... less than 1 yesr old bike and having sudden death syndrome.....

Without further description of the syntoms, it'll be difficult to pinpoint the cause of the sudden engine stall problem.

A few things can lead to the engine stalling :

1) Electrical failure

2) Ignition failure

3) Fuel starvation

If you can describe any symtoms before the bike stalls, it can be helpful to solve the problem.

Any modifications to the bike that can affect the electrical system?

Fuel level of the bike when the bike stalls?

Any change in spark plugs or servicing done before the bike stalls?

What I dun like about mah is they always blame the rider for whatever fault the bike has
