how to assess when change chain n spocket???

:help:

I may be wrong but this is what I know..

generally,

Chains will get stretched.:weep:

So when it gets too loose, the wheels has to be aligned to tighten the chains.:giddy:

There is a guide line to how much a chain can be "stretched"...

Rule of thumb... When the wheels cannot be "pulled" back further to tightened, it's time to change the chains.

Sprokets,

Front and rear ones are usually changed together.

So when you see the sprokets are becoming "sharp"... it's time to change...

Some symptoms, chain may "jump" off the sprokets if worn out.:sian:

It's usually not the bike, Check the Biker

My phantom chain last time, the mech, loosen the chain and twist the chain showing to me that the chain already loose its flexibility and even if put lubrication also no use bcos the chain internal lubrication gone le. The chain does not twist smoothly like very hard like that so it does not conform well to the sproket fast enuf and often cause jumps.

X1R for sale: Fully stock Oct 2010 mileage 20k $6.5k

mech told me that not necessary to change both sprockets together. cos rear sprockets wun wear off as fast as front 1. rear sprocket just spin along only. front 1 got more stress exerted on it. so maybe 2 front sprocket change then change once rear sprocket. dun need waste $ change whole set.

when close throttle can hear kiak kiak kiak sound loud means change either loose or going to spoil liao loh. really cannot make it chain very easy to c lah. if tighten a loose chain liao drop to 1st gear the chain will slack like no tomolo again, then u noe chain cnanot make it liaoz. sprocket is to c the sharpness of the teeth bah.

sth like that.....

Hi guys,

For long lasting of chain usage the best is to change front & rear spocket & good chain together plus also lub ur chain at least once a week, clean chain once a month. Like this ur chain can last more than 1 year.... (depend on ur riding style also).

Cheap chain might break easily and if it break it going to cost u alot more than changing good chain......

:goodluck:

Posted

Hi, so any other recommendations for chain and spockets that should be able to last a longer period... Where do you all normally change your chain and how much does it cost.. Maybe less than 200 bucks.

Mine abt to be gone....

:help:
