hey bros, ask you guys. your digital meter for the fuel gauge accurate or not?

my gf's bike flashed low fuel but when went to pump petrol only managed to pump 3 liters before it was full.

The fuel cock was set to on position also though she doesn't have habit of switching it to off position when she parks

e bike's relatively new rite. if aft topping up petrol problem still persists den probably e meter's faulty or e fuel probe sensor. make an appointment wif HL to rectify problem ya?

Happy weekend peeps! :) Enjoy......

Like to share a strange occurrence on my FZ just yesterday. Stopped at the lights at neutral and then when kick down to first gear, suddenly engine shut off. Clutch in condition and not half clutch. Very strange and was unable to repeat throughout journey.

Do share if you have similar occurrence.

BTW, fuel gauge inaccurate was a problem on the 2008-2009 India market FZ. They should have corrected the problem now but when going though my first tank, I do notice just once the fuel meter went from 2 bars to one bar flashing and then back to 2 bars again after shut down engine and restart.

A friend riding this bike do complain that its not when kick to first gear, but its when he throttled to move off from first gear at traffic lights, same case, fully clutch all, bike died off, not once, not twice but quite a few times. And he noticed everytime he sent his bike to service at HL, they set his carb tuning to a higher side.

@Drift bro wat sparkie r u usin now? still stock? my fuel bar indicator blinks indicating reserve, but i cud still ride all e way home frm work wic is abt 18km without putting e reserve cock on position. Indian techno at it's best... heheheheh

wat u've meant HL put engine idle on e high setting? more den 1.2/1.3?

Shud try cleaning air box n filter also..

It could be the same for me as it is a split second later before I throttle off. Can check with your friend what HL mean by setting carb to higher side? More rich? Also, good to know how to DIY.

Ridehard, my spark plug still stock, will not intend to change till at least 5k. I have strong suspicion that HL tune the bike to leaner to achieve the claimed 50km/l.

50km/l???? i think is just gimmickssss coz my average fc only 32km/l.

i wonder who can hit at least 40km/l & above?

lol 50km/l is crap. So far i managed abt 38km/l and i am still doing run in. I think after run in the fuel consumption should be higher.

Just to share: Im using the stock spark plug also and have not encountered the engine die off at first gear problem. However, my bike neutral like not very accurate. Sometimes the indicator shows neutral but the bike is still in first gear.

Fuel bar indicator: Yea my indicator blinks quite early also so not sure if really going empty but when i open the tank i still see quite a decent amt of petrol so its quite confusing for me haha

e 2 carb setting screws can only set e air being lean n e other for engine idle frens. dis is basic carb design. pilot jet installed inside e carb body determines e amt of petrol for combustion. by changing to aft market air filter like K&N it allows only more free flow air for combustion. carb bikes normally needs servicing periodically. jus like yamaha's RXZ. digital stuffs problem like meter shud go back to HL for repair or replacement. dun worry guys.... e bike's still on warranty go hantam HL for consumer rights. It's quite similar Comparing our bike to Phantom's setup jus dat FZ16 is to my opinion better. My fc was 50km/l during first 500km wen i was doin 4-5rpm ave 70km/hr. but e next 500km it has become less as on e highway i was cruising 80km/hr at abt 6rpm. still hav't chg to my KNN yet probably tmrw as im on my off day. chill la.....Enjoy :)

oh n is better to maintain stock sparkies as fuel cork type bikes like ours will need throttle cracking during engine start or cranking. cold type sparkies will on personal opinion give more problem. Steady bon pipi..... la

Bro, you could be the defacto FZ16 technical manager. For the carb lean/rich screw, which one is it according to your diagram?

Thanks in advance.

For the hard to start part did you throttle a bit when cranking start? As mentioned by ridehard, ours is a carb bike so must throttle a bit - especially first thing in the morning or when weather is colder like after the rain.

As for the 3rd gear reach 4k RPM die off, I have yet to encounter. Did you warm up the bike for 1-2min before moving off?

What crap from the bike shop. Water go inside? So it means bike design got problem.

lol u feel that too? but i dont really know whats the real prob. it could be cold it could be i never warm up properly but since i bought my bike from 4th march till now i encounter 2 times le both after heavy rain but sometimes rain also ok i also donno whats the prob lol

1) i dun see a problem starting e bike if choke is needed.

2) wen we need to warm up e engine, try listening to a constant idling output b4 moving off.

3) wen moving off, i'll chg gears in btw 4-5rpm. maybe it's too fast. But i'll rather be safe den too slow.

someone mentioned kopi session n midnite riding?
