Who are the big bore kit specialists

Hi All,

 

Can anyone recommend the best workshop to do 135 Spark/X1 engine mods, such as big bore kit, heads, cam, carb etc?

 

Also I would love to hear from owners who have done engine work, and how is the result compared to stock?

 

Such as;

-Can you really feel the extra power from 15cc more capacity?

-Does the bike still retain rideability in slow traffic/low rpms?

-Does is compromise down low performance such as take-off due to bigger cam or changed delivery of powerband?

Surely someone had big bore engine done in singapore?

All sparks here are bone stock not modified AT all. We know big bore kit is illegal

Yes its fun but unreliable. Engine Tuning requires the "whole" package. But doesn't mean you bolt everything tgt means it will be power. Workmanship can play a part in the final product power and reliability.

 

Generally speaking it makes the bike much faster at the expense of engine durability. FC can be better in some cases, depends on how its tuned. I've had several bikes that enjoyed better FC after modding, from 2st sports bike to 4st cub. But generally I tune for more torque and broad power-band for everyday drivability.

 

It is important to communicate with yr mech what u want. End of the day you will spend more money on maintaining the bike so whether is it worth it is up to you to decide for yrself.

Things that can be done are like carb, cyl head, oversize valve, cam, Ti valve spring, Ti spring retainer, big bore, hi compression, stroker crank, race gearbox, clutch/springs and many others.

 

Personally i find a highly strung single cylinder engine's sound very nice. Esp those that revs very quickly up down.
