would like to ask if any of u have a class 2 bike with only third party insurance? sounds scary that theft is not covered but its 30-40% cheaper than tpft.

reason im asking is cos i probably with get a cls 2 when im 25. thinking of getting just third party for the first year and then upgrading to tpft after i exit the 21-25yr category.

1. Depending on the class 2 bike you are buying.

2. Those light sport bikes that can be easily move in matter of second definitely need a better insurance coverage

3. Whether are you going to travel to malaysia frequently

4. If you are going into the boleh for petrol stop and makan very often

5. Get the insurance that covers fire and theft then

imo, cls2 bikes better get at least 3rd party with fire n theft. it's not like 2b bike which cost 3-4k. most thief n syndicates will aim at cls2 bikes, as they r more expensive. a loss of est 20k is really not worth the risk for a few hundreds a year.

unless ur not planning to stop when u go m'sia, aka pump petrol n come back, & u park in landed property or condo, 24h security.

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

I beg to differ.

2B bikes, especially the popular models, are usually the target as this category bike has the most in number so there is a demand for stolen parts. However i am not implying that class 2A or 2 bikes are safe from theft but it is always the demand from the black market that will drive these crooks to steal. Like Super4 is a very common 2Abike, thus it is targeted.

i meant more on the cost involved if stolen or sabotaged, in response to TS thread, rather than the % it get stolen/sabotage.

if lets say 2 bikes side by side, a 2b n 2 bike, both of equal challenge to steal, which do u think the thief will choose? common sence will indicate to get the bigger fish.

If I think like a thief, my consideration will be which loot is easier to dispose rather than to steal the more expensive bike.

to each his own, give u another, u rather steal $10 note or a diamond ring inside a drawer. u only have time to take 1 item.

hm, great discussion that you guys are having. I guess it boils down to personal preferences and risk taking. i guess if you dont go malaysia and live in landed or condo it would be quite safe from theft and fire.

actually i think if you use steering lock or a disk lock, HDBs are find too. I myself also brought third party only coz of the price. Simply too expensive man

all my friend who own cl2 go m'sia, if not for touring, then eating, petrol is secondary to them, but since they're there, why not. if u want a cl2 n just ride in sg, then i dont know what's the point. the reason why u dont see many cl2 bikes riding here.

imo, there're things u can save, n things u can't. petrol, parts & servicing can be done in m'sia, for cost saving, insurance & maintainence cannot. if u're paying for an arm or leg for that bike, what the point. same as u're riding in sg only where u're limited to 90km/h.

it all boils down to the risk u wan to take and your preference, if you feel that you that extra, by all means can buy the FT. Not say dont go at all, but i mean dont go that often. Anyway i also seldom hear class 2 bike going missing, so i think its quite ok ba.
