helmet odour

hey guys..do ya'll hav any idea to get rid of tha odour smell other than the washing method..not lazy jus tat my helmet is not tha removable pad...used to put tha small perfume pack for cars..i tink u shud saw it b4, but nowadays tat ting aint in the store..haaiizz... me...thanks

you can get an odour spray !! specially made for you by a company to get rid of the smelly odour of your head !!

 

Can buy Jelita or maybe also guardian..

esso use to haf this "round" thing with a smiley face.. that has veri nice odour to make your helmet smell nice and fresh.. but they no longer carry the product.. anywhere near west side can get? wana get.. it's a very thin plastic that can be slot in btwn ur helmet cushion

Hmm... just a note...

 

Some small perfume pack(containing liquid kind) might leak and "dissolve" the "styrofoam" inside the helmet.. cos ever happen to my friend's ogk..

try to use this spray on odour remover. its called febreeze. it can be bought from supermarkets. comes in a spray bottle. its specially formulated for fabric. spray everyday after use. it will help alot.

yah..i used tat smiley face...but then..now dun hav in stores..been a few of petrol kiosk...hmmm...if using tha sprayin ting, does it cause any harm to ur hair since it direct contact to ur hair...

i read somewhere that you can stuff newspapers into the helmet and just leave it for a couple of days, it'll get rid of the smell. also make sure it's dry, get it sunned if it's wet etc.

Hmm...does that means that u cannot use ur helmet for several dayx everytime u wan to remove the odour??

bro i think cannot lah.. if u wear ur helmet next day later ur face black man haha.. imagine u read news papers sometimes ur fingers also a little black.. haha

 

 

but seriously would people consider buying something like a special made ventilation system for helmets?? its like a round thing where u can put your helmet over it at home and have fans inside to keep helmet dry and smell free??

Odour is caused by bacteria and fungus growing in the moist inner liner.

 

Do two things. Dry it in the sun regularly... the sun kills germs. And spray it with something like Lysol disinfectant spray to kill the bacteria and fungus in the liner.

 

I do mine weekly. No stink, or itchy head.

Charcoal can remove smell.. but will leave the black stain on the lining.

If anyone wana give it a shot, can buy charcoal in packets from aquariums.

 

For me, i would remove the inner padding, spray either dettol or lysol disinfectant and leave it to sun for a few hours.

Steam the helmet... easy if u have a steam iron, just fire the steam into the helmet, then leave it aside. the steam should get rid of most of the smell. ned to do a few times though, tried it on my OGK full face.. works pretty well. After that, add some perfume will be best

bro.. steaming may not be a good idea.. cos if the heat is accidentally directed to the impact absorber surface, the material may lose the protective characteristic. Unless you take the cushion out, now that's a different story. cheers

Well, i did that on my helmet. and i washed my lining seperately again after that. Don;t think got and adverse effect on it.

Anyway, theres always the old school way of soaking the entire helmet

i got a air purifier for my helmet.. super smelly after riding in rain.. juz on the fan and place helmet over it to air.. no smell the next morning..

I just mix alittle dettol,and mist abit inside the helmet and place in the sun,putting under the fan,might help,but does not eliminate the bateria....So sunning dries and eliminates the bateria....

 

 

bateria in the sweat and rain water,causes the helmet to have the odour.
