wah u got walk around to shop and ask around ? 48km a year !!!!

u got check the log card to see when the bike is produced ? cos if he cheats you then u can complain to CASE....then why don you go back and ask them to repair for u ?? though second hand the shop still has a liability to make sure the goods are in good condition before selling....

I got mine at first hand 5.7k then got a year warranty on all hardware ....they gave me the warranty card listing the type of hardware covered....Think you check whether your bike still covered anot....Did you go to to sym service centre to check out the repair price for the gauge ?

the address in earlier threads...

take care !

The boss told me COE till 2013...and the bike only got 1 owner, a 60yrs old man who change bike frequently, so I thought should be ok. But when I get the bike, I just realized that it is 48k for mileage! And the temperature meter not working....now the coolant like leaking also.....SAD!

The problem is not you can afford it or not, is how are you going to make yourself able to afford it.

Dear siewphone,

Sorry for like I MIA for weeks. I have been busy with my wedding and work. I like to point out to you that you are careless in buying a 48k Km milage bike for 1yr+ bike. Be it a R1 or honda cub, 1yr+ with 48+k milage, it is abit too much ESPECIALLY auto belt running bike like ours.

Haizz.... what to do? I Hope and pray no problems occurred for your joyride.

As for your temperature gauge, dun worry much about it. If you are travelling only in roads of Singapore, the hottest I ever encounter is 4 bars and never reach 5 bars. OMG!!! I forgot, with the temperature gauge, you might not be able to trigger the coolant fan to work!! Do you feel the fan when your engine running hot!!!

My advises are

1) Repair the temperature gauge, find back the original shop and complain about it. Ask for free repair or discount at least

2) Make sure!!! you use top grade coolant used in car and mixed 1:1 ratio with water and fill up the coolant reservoir at least half. Cap located on the right side, below your handle bar.

3) Make sure!!! you check the coolant tank once every 1 or 2 days and top up full pior to starting up your bike. Cap located on the left side, below your handle bar left.

WHY?? you may ask! High temperature inside your bike compartment can be 20 - 30 degree higher than you feel. This might cause coolant rubber tube to melt or coolant pump's wire to burn. Without the temperature gauge to trigger the coolant fan, the coolant tank and coolant gauze could not work in 100% effectively which in turn causing your bike temperature to rise and could further damage your other parts. As joyride and other belt running bike are closely compact and covered bike, heat is trapped internally causing the temperature to rise. Be warned!!!

Dear Vara,

You can duplicate your keys at the shop beside regine. The LAB sister shop beside it have a skilled lock smith. I have always make spare keys from him. Not bad for a $2.5 per key depend on the sizes. I forgot how much my joyride key was made?

Aiiiii.....I can not belive my eyes on the mileage when I take the bike.

They ask me go down to workshop for check up, whey can't they check everything properly before I get the bike?

Just call the boss, he keep saying 1yr+ 48k is NORMAL!

The problem is not you can afford it or not, is how are you going to make yourself able to afford it.

Well, might have more problems in the future... Average mileage for most motorists would only be 12K per year. If 48K means he travels 4 times longer!

Also make sure your radiator is not cracked. that may be the reason why your bike heats up so fast. Some shops just paste over a crack radiator & they give to customer. Haha.. careful wuith that ... Joyride new radiator is 200++

Hi guys, where did you guys put the IU huh? mine is blocking the lcd from my view when I'm sitting, is it possible to move it to somewhere else?

Dear Jytheroem,

Accordingly to the manual, first change of Engine oil and gear oil is at 300km, next change at 1000km. Subsquent changes at 3000km. Actually entirely depend on individual. I follow the manual and my bike is not giving me any problem AT ALL! Still new bike, I guess.

Btw, I place my road tax display near the filter box. The black odd looking box on the back of joyride. There is a nut where it is use to hold the rear mudguard, I place my road tax display there. :cheeky:

As for IU, I dun fixed one on my bike. :cheeky:

I have been riding my pig for about 11months, insurance due soon. :sian:

I clock only 9000km + till now.

GUYS! New riders or old riders, sign up for the taiwan scooter meeting leh? 7.30pm Sunday at Kallang KFC. :cheeky:

Erm... air filter box?? The one on the left of the bike?? Above the engine izit??

Now i temporarily put one end of the holder under the seat, near the front tip of the seat, where there's 2 plastic spokes sticking upwards(can be seen when seat is open)

Intending to change to another location... cos nid to keep b4 riding off... otherwise will slightly obstruct my left leg when i put leg down whenever i stop

My IU is fixed on by Dexing... Din block my view of the dashboard thou

I seen many scooterists having metallic plates fixed for placing foot... u guys ever fix one of those??

Did you check your coolant

NO. the cooling fan only start when the temp meter reach 4 bars.

My meter bars normally stay at either 1 or 2 bars

except when waiting to clear JB custom. den it will go up more

than 3 bars den the fan will start

13Jun05 - 21Jul06 Joyride 172cc. Mileage=31050

21Jul06..... TA200. Mileage=3200

think you better go back to ban hon to bang table...first they sold you a bike with so high mileage...then seemed like the bike they also did not check properly what are the things damaged before selling off again...

btw did you check the log card on the manufactured date....

the cooling fan for my bike never even started before cos my temp gauge highest only 2 bar....

take care !

Yeap better go back to the shop... Just tell Mr Ban Hong what your problem is... Could be the temperature sensor is faulty, thats why it cause the fan to turn on at the slightest warmth. Probably...like I said radiator/coolant problems.FYI the Joyride fan is situated behing the radiator directly beneath the headlight (you have to open up the whole front cover, that has almost 20 screws) I dunno why the Taiwanese manufacturers make it like that!

By the way, for everyone's info, I've tried finding the Modenas Agent at JB but never seem to get it. I heard it's strictly 8-5 unlike most workshops in JB & finding their spare parts is quite difficult. A few of the Johorians even had to go to the SYM Centre in Singapore to buy their parts. A bit expensive but no choice lor... However in the very near future FJT will have been able to stock the parts..i think sometime early next month. So good luck to everyone.
