Hi friends,

My friend (Jun Hao) and I are planning for a 3D2N ride to Kenyir Lake from 29 May - 31 May 2011.

We are looking for riding partners, everyone is welcomed. We are friendly riders, wish to meet and make friends with riders all around the globe, especially the nearest neighbour, Singaporean.

Let me introduce myself first.

My name is Sam, 33,married,currently staying and teaching at Segamat Johor. Yes, i am a highschool science teacher.My hometown is Bentong,Pahang.

 

Here are the plan and suggestion for riders depart from Singapore :

1. Ride to Segamat and overnight (FOC) at my house in Segamat on 28 May. Try to reach segamat town after 10pm because i only free after 10pm on that day.

2. on 29 May, 5am we will leave Segamat and ride to Bentong via Bahau- Karak-Bentong(old trunk road with lots of curves). will reach Bentong Town at 8am.

3. Breakfast and meet my friend (Jun Hao) , he is riding to meet us at Bentong from Klang, Selangor.

4. 9am,leave Bentong and head north to Kuala Lipis. Lunch at Kuala Lipis, eat the famous Hakka Noodles at K.Lipis.

5. After lunch, proceed to Gua Musang, refuel, then proceed to Kenyir Lake. We will ride on the new ,still under construction road to Kenyir. more details on the road, check out http://www.motobiking.com/2009_Files/Kenyir29-310809/Kenyir29-310809_main.html

we will stop by to visit the Elephant Sanctuary at Sungai Ketiar tasik kenyir 1,047m above sea level,, by the scenic Tasik Kenyir-Gua Musang road.

6. Reach Lake Kenyir about 3pm. Check in to Lake Kenyir Resort & Spa. http://www.lakekenyir.com/

 

30 May:

7. Breakfast,then take a boat cruise around the lake for sightseeing. 10.30am, leave Kenyir Lake and head to Kuala Berang - Kuala Terengganu - Bentong.

8. Arrive Bentong at 4pm,rest and swim at Chamang Waterfall, Bentong.

9. Jun Hao will back home to KL, as he need to work on 31 May.

10. Singapore riders and I will stay at Bentong (my hometown) for one night, FOC.

 

31 May:

11. 7.30am: Breakfast at Bentong,then heading to Segamat - Singapore.

 

other info:

i) Budget: about RM 100-150 each person for accomodation at Lake Kenyir Resort and Spa (http://www.lakekenyir.com/accommodation.php) sharing.........

ii) petrol: depends on bike

iii) food: about RM100

Total estimated budget ,excluding fuel: about RM200-300 only.

 

Distance:

a) Segamat - Gua Musang (394km)

b) Gua Musang - Lake Kenyir (about 180km)

c) Lake Kenyir - Kuala Berang- Kuala Terengganu - Bentong ( about 370km)

d) Bentong - Segamat (192km)

e) Segamat - Singapore (217km)

No worry,We are not fast rider, as our bikes not superbikes.. safety first is our principle.

cruising speed should be around 120kmh-140kmh on highway, and ~ 100kmh on normal roads.

Wahseh! Solomon...I tot you gave up riding liao! Magna better than Versys? Who am I? The one riding the XR250 who met you at Bentong and rode down to Segamat together...How's life? Tasik Kenyir best of the best for relaxing....why the rush back and not take a boat ride around the lake...nice views and worth it.....

Corrections, it was not a versys, I rode a aprilia pegaso Strada 650.

Sold the bike since last year, now borrowing my brother's Magna for few months to ease my bike sick, hehe.

Just received call from my riding buddy, Jun Hao, that he cant make it to this ride :-( due to unforeseen circumstances.

Never mind, we still can go on, but with some amendments to the itinerary. I would like to propose to make it a Lake Kenyir + Cameron Highlands Ride.

Please see the below map for reference:

 

Well, this is just my suggestion, Cameron Highlands is optional, I am flexible and willing to listen to any opinion from participants. If we skip Cameron Highlands, no problem, can stick to the original plan.

updates:

Just confirmed that my younger brother (he is in Bentong)is joining the trip,so need to make some changes on the route,again, sorry.

 

The following should be the finalised route and itinerary:-

29 May (day 1): Depart from Segamat at 5am and reach Bentong at 8am. Meet up with my brother and heading to Gua Musang- Kenyir Lake.

Reach Kenyir at about 3pm.

 

30 May(Day 2): 12pm,leave Kenyir Lake and head to Cameron Highlands. Reach Cameron at about 5pm.

31 May (Day 3): 9am, leave Cameron Highlands - Sg Koyan- Raub- Bentong- Segamat- Singapore

Riders from Singapore can reach Singapore by 7pm.

The other direction may not be as fun.

Anyway, the uncompleted section to Lake Kenyir looks adventurous.

I just went thru T156 -->Gua Musang --> Lake kenyir --> kuantan two weeks ago.

 

Similar to the red line indicated on your map

 

T156 --- > Gua MuSang is still as hell as ever. Unpaved roads with port holes. Sandy roads with lots of stones. Most of the corners are lurked with dangers. Ride slow and with care please

 

Things get alot better at the road marked tasik lake kenyir on your map.

thanks bro! from what u said, perhaps I should consider riding to Cameron Highlands via Sg Koyan first, then the next day, Cameron Highlands- Gua Musang - Kenyir (Down slope).

finally, Kenyir- Gua Musang- Bentong - Segamat- Singapore.

Hi Ninjapura,

oh ya, do you like to watch football? there will be a BIG match on 29 May, 3-5am between Man Utd and Barcelona FC (Champion League Final). I plan to watch it live and when the match finished at 5am, we straight away start our journey from Segamat- Bentong - Gua Musang- Kenyir. What u think?
