Bros,

1. The manual states that we ought to change EO/filter at every 12000km, but most of us are changing at 4000km.. is it a bit too early to change at 4000km??

2. Must we wipe our windscreen with a super soft cloth? Is it easily subsceptible to scratches?

3. Notices that the black cover near rear left side of the scoot ( clutch side ) tends to collect alot of mud and sand etc.... is there any way to prevent this?

4. In the morning, my RPM at idling speed would be at 1.5+/-, then it would slowly drop to 1.2 after about 5 mins.. Is it normal?

Sorry for long-winded story... Any bros can share their experience?

Many thanks for the time.. :cheeky: :cheeky:

Think u might have read it wrongly. Should be change engine oil every 6000km then change the engine oil filter every 12000km. In other words, every 2 times of engine oil, change oil filter.

2. Must we wipe our windscreen with a super soft cloth? Is it easily subsceptible to scratches?

Using a soft cloth to wipe the windscreen is to minimise any scatches occour.

Dun think so. Most scoots have this prob. Cos its situated at the rear wheel there.

4. In the morning, my RPM at idling speed would be at 1.5+/-, then it would slowly drop to 1.2 after about 5 mins.. Is it normal?

Yes. Its the same theory as all scoots. Its something like the auto choke. To help your bike start up easier in the mornings.

Hi SW bros..

Just got my bike today. Gun metallic colour, FBC plate.

Just realized that my bike is 2006 model..

No wonder shop selling for 11.8k for 26yrs old..

Actually all alarms are abt the same. Its whether u wan 1 or 2 ways alarms, loud or soft, how the remote look & wat functions u wan in the remote system. Its also how the sales man recommend. Prices range from abt $40 to $300 before installation. Installation charges differs too. depending wat u wan in a remote alarm system. Fixing a normal alarm only need to strip the head fairing. Unless u wan to fix the acuator to open the seat, then got to strip the rear as well. Cos they need to access the seat latch area. This will inccur most money also.

1) Perhaps based on our environment. Most of us change at 4000km and below for EO. In fact sometimes even at 4000km, I notice our EO has basically no viscosity. (I am using full syn oil FYI) For oil filter, I will stretch no more than 8000km. But thats your choice.

2) Do as what big cow says. But if yours is a new bike, you will also get scratches from other sources :sian: "vandalism".

3) No choice, have to wash and is dirtier after a rainpour. At the beneath of the cover, over the time grease will accumulate as well and require grease removal spray to do the job.

4) Normal. But I hope Kris Rider can share with us the concept behind. :)

It is quite normal for the automatic choke to come on when the engine is started from cold. Actually the choke just makes the mixture RICH meaning it allows more fuel in. As the engine heats up the sensor in the injector senses this and allows normal mixture in. Nothing to worry about here as it just means that the injector / sensor is working correctly.

Make a trip to one of the mountain resorts in malaysia and after overnight stay start up early in the morning and you will surely see the idling RPM at 2000 or even more. This because the sensor is doing its job.

In the old days HONDA had a manual Choke which had to be pulled open before start up and gradually closed as the engine heated up. Some models even had a seperate "Valve Lifter" on the exhaust valve which was really needed for the bigger CC Single cylinder bikes (eg XR 650, XBR500).

So the benefit of all the R&D and improvements by HONDA has been incorporated into the SW system. So ! Just get out there and enjoy riding !

Stick to the recommended maintenance schedule of the manufacturer and do try NOT to modify the electrical, carburation or exhaust system UNLESS you really need to.

I got a suggestion for this - You may like to buy some WD40 or LPS1 or 2 - actually any good brand of water repellant / light lubricant spray - and spray lightly over that whole area when its clean & COLD - taking great care not to get any on the rear tyre and the brake pads / disk. Then all you have to do after a DIRTY Ride is to lightly spray clean water and all that dirt just comes off easily. Wait till the area is COLD before you do this. Then repeat before your next ride. I personally use LPS1. And as the monsoon season gets worse you will not spend half your time cleaning the bike.

This trick can also be used on other areas but not on exhaust system, injector or electrical system. I use mainly under the bike and around the radiator area. REMEMBER only spray on when that part is COLD.

I used SC1 to keep the black part clean... So far so good. Dirt and sand and be easily clean off.

BTW, Should be changing my transmission oil this coming 10,000km servicing.

Any brands and rating to recommend?

Also, anyone uses MAXIMA Cool Aide before also?
