If you like a Sporty Look and like zipping around stick to your vtec spec 2 ! The SW is for more sedate riding / touring and definitely heavier. Range from full tank to reserve about 250KM depends on your throttle control. Full tank from empty 16 liters. Cost depends on shop / year / colour - but generally between 11K to 12K.

Hi

While turning my handlebar this past week when parking my bike, i tend to hear a "thud" sound.

And also while going over hump, the thud sound also came out.. Is it bcos of the suspension? :giddy:

Any bros here experience this??

Went down to Boon Siew last week to service my scoot.

Did my first servicing at my dealer.

Realised that dealer never give me my warranty card, so Boon Siew issued to me.

The mechanic supervisor said that SW 400 need only come for servicing at 800km, then subsequently every 4000km..

Then why do bikes shop recommend that serving for running-in is at 800km, 2000km & 3000km?

This depends on individual. Cos new blocks & pistons tend to have metal bits inside. So its good to change your engine oil frequently during the 'running in' period.

As for me, i very kiasu one. Wat i did for my past 2 brand new scoots was, when take out new bike from shop, ride for,

1) 1st 200km, then change engine oil, engine oil filter & change final gear oil. Max speed @ 90km/hr.

2) At 600km change engine oil only. Max speed @ 100km/hr.

3) At 1000km change engine with oil filter. Max speed @ 110km/hr.

4) At 1500km change engine oil only. Max speed @ 120km/hr.

5) Lastly, at 2000km change engine oil, engine oil filter & change final gear oil.

After this i wack all the way le. During running in, most people will recommend to use Mineral oil or 20/50 Fully Syn oil. But i dun really care one.

Some would choose to hard run in their machines. Meaning Brand new from bike shop, wack for abt km to 100km, change all the oils & oil filter then can ride normally le.

Some would tow their brand new bike to a shop with a dyno machine & do a hard run in there. This was wat i did to my 650 scoot.

After all, Honda is know for its reliability on their engines. Its made to last. So no worries bro.

Sounds like a loose headset bearing - But since yours is a new bike may be something else - But also possible that the bearing caps may have worked loose.

Try get some one heavy sit on the rear of pillion seat when the bike on centre stand so that the front wheel off the ground then you grab both front forks near the base and rock them around see any loose play.

Suggest if you dont know how to check go to a GOOD mechanic.

When lifting up the main stand, momentum plus technique can already..

So, no worries.

One more thing to add:

This "thud" sound does NOT come out when i off my engine.

However, when my engine is idling, i shift my handlebar left to right, the sound appear...

Strange, :giddy:

Have you had your front axle/brakes bolts & nuts checked since you changed your tyres ?

The problem maybe wrong assembly/nut tightening sequence or torgue. You are supposed to tighten the axle bolt first before you do the two pinch bolts at the bottom of each fork.

As for the sound only during engine idling .....well i had a similar problem with my earlier SW where when i pull in the left brake lever at a standstill whilst the engine idling i used to hear knocking sounds and RPM decrease. We could never find out what it was .....until we changed the pads on the rear brake and the problem disappear..... but that was one year later !

Think i will go to my mechanic and have it checked out or perhaps go down to Boon Siew

Thanks for the info, bro :thumb:

No worries bro,

The CG is very low.... you sure can handle it.

Compared to sports and street bike where its almost engine area, this is almost to the leg rest area..... you will not feel much of the weight....
