I went to wonderful motor last week. Botak tell me that my mounting board spoilt due to rusty. he mention that this is a common problem for x8. It will cost $220 for him to do and $180 for others to do. He say that he will provide after sales service, that's why so ex.

Do you guys have this problem too?

ok... let me enlighten u abit on this..... basically mounting board for X8s or even runners or X9s are prone to this problem as weather conditions here made it more prone to rust. As there is no lubrication on the board, this cost the boarding to rust and spolit the mounting.....

On average, a normal mounting board can last at most 2 years on these bikes, some unlucky ones only 1 year but with the "modification" by botak, the mounting board can last u a good 4-5 years with regular maintainence by him(which is the after sales portion).

Hence, u do some simple calculation and u should understand my meaning why it's slightly more expensive.... but to me it's 100% worth it....

One more question... do you guys cover your bike?

it is advisable to cover bike while the pipe is still hot? will it result to fire?

no worries abt covering it hot... the only bad thing is it leave a stain on your exhaust(the middle portion) as that is too hot for your cover to handle hence it melts.....

...btw when u went botak?? might had just saw u there.....:p

thanks firestorm for being so proactive on my question.

I went last Friday around 3.30pm. Will go again next week for mounting board. Btw, do you think it's worth while to install hazard light?

I went to AS Phoon last night to look at their used X8. While it looks like a nice bike sitting on its main stand, I found out that you're not allowed to test ride it before buying it. Coming from the US, this was a big shock to me. The salesman said the only way to try and test ride a bike is to find someone that has one and borrow it in a parking lot. So, I was wondering if anyone would let me test ride their X8 in a parking lot. I have a motorcycle license from the US so I know how to ride. But I just want to try out an X8 before I buy one. Thanks!

To test ride a piaggio bike, just go to genting lane piaggio centre, Brembo will be allow u to test ride one....

how it function exactly, i unable to explain but if the mounting spolit,

u should feel the following

1. cornering, your bike's rear go 1 side instead of steady turn....

2. your tyre thread "eat" only 1 side (those pretty bad condition ones)

3. unsteady at the rear side......

if need more info, u can check with botak also......:p

So I called the Genting road location and they only have new Piaggio's. Since I'm limited by the 2B, I'm really looking for a 200cc X8 or X9 to try out. Is there anyone that would let me try their bike in a car park? I'd buy lunch or snack at a hawker center.

I called: Piaggio Asia Pacific (Pte) Genting Rd Singapore 349478 (65)6547 4466 and was told that they didn't have any 200cc X8. I'll try again tomorrow. Is that the right number to call?

Haha. I hope I will like it. But I still definitely need to try one before buying it. It's a little too much money to spend blindly.

hmm... izzit it very tight or just a slight rubbing between brake pad and disc plate ?

So hard to move it that affect your riding speed ?

did u change ur rear tire or brake pad recently when problem started ?

some cause i can think of

- tire rim bearing wear off ?

- disc plate/pad dirty ?

- engine mounting ?

its very normal that slight contact between brake pad and disc plate...

need lubricant/oiling for which part ?
