Hi all X8ers,

Just gotta 2nd hand X8 barely 4 days ago and i know nuts bout scoots.Mileage really low as stated on speedo(2500km)Its an FBA plate and i just redone the paintwork on the bike.Gotta normal service from shop(engine oil,rollers,belting..etc) and the engine still sounded very crisp.Pls kindly advise for future servicing and any aftermarket exhaust for the bike. Thanks!

I've been riding my FBA plated X8 for 3 and a half years now. You will need to check the engine oil regularly, maybe once every 2 to 3 weeks. Change the engine oil every 3 months and while you're at it, change the Spark plug as well. Change your Kevlar belt every 12-14000km.

Also it depends on your riding habit, are you a aggressive throttler who pushes the scooter hard, or are you just a simple A to B normal rider.

I would say that I've gotten a little more aggressive on my scooter and now parts are starting to wear off. My scooter is currently being totally refurbished in one of the Kallang shops. Can't wait to see it in it's new paint job. :)

I'm more of a cruiser and seldom go hard on the throttle, maintaining 60-70km/h anywhere. Thanks again for the advice ya..

Hey no problem man, anyway, nice paint job on your scooter. I'm also re-spraying mine Green, but at a much darker shade with powder shine thrown in.

Do read the manual that comes with the scooter, it contains very important maintenance notes. I would suggest that you try to maintain your scooter regularly, every 3 to 4 months would be good. That would prevent problems from cropping up.

Also you're lucky as you get to park in a multi-storey car park so that it's protected form the sun's rays and the rain. Get some Dashboard plastic protective spray and use it on the dark plastic surfaces to protect it from sun damage.

So far so good! Was very cautious on my way back home, didn't dare to go beyond 70km/h. Steering now is super smooth, very sensitive and the tires feel solid. Tires still need to "burn in" before getting a better grip, now turning corners at slower speeds. Braking handles have less throw and are more responsive. Engine feels brand new, starting is instantaneous. Throttle is responsive and there's definitely an acceleration boost.

Now the new paint job is giving me extra pressure not to get it scratched. :cheeky:

Will have to get a new cover for the scooter.

Anyone here knows where can I get Piaggio decals for the X8? My Storage case Piaggio sticker resin logo fell off this morning during my trip to work and now there's a empty hexagon indent. The decal needs to be replaced anyway as the transparent resin has lost it's shine.

If not, does anyone know where I can find a place where they make custom decals?

I spent a bit b4 my bike came out from the shop,had them custom colour airbrushed the whole bike kawasaki zx-10 green as well as the rims black as it was in a depressing state when i took it.The LV 4Road i acquired is from another X8 at the same shop,it is street legal as long as it is made for X8 200 models.Had just went for inspection and reregistered as the new exhaust owner.I will qoute the breakdown as below;

Paintjob:$300

Leo Vince exhaust(2nd hand):$350

Original LV Certificate(G-Max):$50

Exhaust Inspection(Vicom):$78

I am not rich, but i really REALLY wanted the LV pipe and went through all the trouble to go around and find one.Even though it is 2nd hand,i am still happy with it.I just wish this helps and gd luck on your search!

Thanks for your reply, in the end I ordered it direct from Italy through Ebay, there are cheaper ones from Thailand but went and got the nicer ones from Italy. Cost a bomb though (postage is more than the cost of the decals :dot:).

Absolutely enjoy my X8 now, it's like a brand new beast. The new parts have made a world of difference.

Edit: Off topic a bit, found this nice Youtube Video explaining how the Rollers in a Constant Variable Transmission (CVT) works.
