thanks for the promo update man,anyway out of curiosity i'm just wondering if there is any shorter windshield available for X8 coz the wind deflection from the tip of the current one seems to bug me a lot even at low speed man..if there isn't one,i'm really thinking of custom trimming it down to size..pls kindly advise dude..thenks..

hi to all x8 200 riders... do any1 koes where to get fix the tall wind screen of x8 200? as u all koe tat our stock wind screen height is onli to around nose lever. the wind always blow directly to my face when i open my visor... so thinking of fixing the taller 1. i saw b4 on x8, just got no idea where can i get it.. pls advise if u koe...thks alot..

Hi Folks, just to spice things up in this thread, I want to tell fellow X8 owners my adventure in replacing a blown light bulb and also perhaps give you guys some advice how NOT to do things while replacing the bulb.

 

My first light bulb lasted exactly 3 years, when I removed it, I found that it was manufactured by OSRAM Germany. Tried to buy the same bulb, but found a lot of places don't stock it. The bulb is a type H7 12V 55W Halogen. The first time I replaced the bulb was last August, I went to a neighbourhood bike store and they replaced the bulbs with some unknown Japanese brand bulbs. I'll post the brand once I find the boxes.

 

Update - I found the original boxes of the Japanese H7 light bulb. It's by "ASUKI" or ASUKI AUTOMOBILE IND. CO. LTD, Tokyo Japan. The boxes are White and Red.

 

 

They main bulb worked fine, but the high beam bulb blew internally with black soot inside when I went home after the replacement. I was frustrated and decided not to go back to that shop but went to another place to hunt down for more reliable bulbs. I went to another industrial park near my place, went to ask around and bought a pair of FLOSSER brand German made bulbs, went back and did the replacement myself. Since only the high beam bulb blew, I only replaced that one. Fast forward to yesterday, my normal beam bulb filament broke. Damn bulb worked for less than 6 months! Luckily I had a spare Flosser bulb. This morning, I removed the rear view mirrors, front panel and the side lights to access the main lights assembly to replace the bulb. I'll stick to German brand bulbs from now on.

 

The whole process went fine, the problem is when I replaced my left rear view mirror, I used too much force while screwing in the main screw, destroyed the thread and ripped out the retaining screw thread clasp. In other words, a big SNAFU on my part. Here's the advice, if you can't force it in, DON'T, you'll only cause more damage heh heh I think the proper way is if the screw doesn't want to go in, give it a jiggle and try to manually screw in the screw, if it goes in with little effort, then proceed to screw it in with the screw driver.

 

You can see the blown bulb in the pictures below and the damaged screw and the retainer.

 

Does anyone know where I can get the spare parts for the screw and the retainer clasp? The left rear view mirror is now held with one screw, but I think I better secure it properly in case it comes loose.

 

In the last picture, you'll see that I have glued on a new Piaggio Logo for my rear Case. This time I've used heavy duty epoxy glue, doubt it'll drop this time. In any case, I still have 2 more spare logos.

Hey no problem man, now if you search for my older postings, I created my own battery and cable emergency restart kit. There are photos as well. Anyway I had to upgrade the cable because the old version's wires are too thin and it overheats easily. Changing to a thicker gauge wire solved that, btw if you do use the emergency battery kit, remember that once the engine has started, IMMEDIATELY remove the spare battery connection!

Oh I forgot to mention, you'll have to buy a Lead Acid battery charger as well, otherwise you won't be able to charge your spare battery. Sometimes when I go for a long holiday, my main battery could go flat and I'll remove it and charge it with the charger. I believe the charger cost around $35, and I bought it at the basement level at SIM LIM TOWER (not square).

Correct there is no original white x8. Mine original is black. Feel boring so turn it white a yr ago. Glad that u choose white too. But there is a few scratches here and there le. so not so nice. Where did u get it sprayed???

hi, can i koe hw long can a original belt last? heard is abt 12000km..any1 tried using beyond tat? mine 15000km alr haven change belt.. still ok when riding, but dono will break down suddenly anot...lol

Hi everyone, just something to share with you guys . Recently I experince some problem with my engine . Engine keep dieing off while idile. But while travelling no problem only when i stop at the junction engine will die off. So send to work shops for check up. Change alot of things , wash carbrator , change the rubber hose for the ait intake , tune engine, valve etc. End up still same problem . Then told me to change engine valve which will cost me $4++. I super dont belive ask another workshop dont a check change the carbrator fuel hose. Only less than $100. Bottom line is always seek second opition or third in my case just to be sure . Dont be fooled. Hope those who have this same problem as mine can be solve asap.
