I believe with patience (and abit more money than usual), the X8 can go anywhere. Just have to contend with its top speed of 120-130kph.

Anyway, anyone knows whats the pricing of the change of engine mounting, steering cone? Need a rough estimate, least I get chop by black shops...

engine mounting wud be bout 120 but steering cone not so sure..i will check and update you on diz one..and its at future scoot..

mainstand bike, now try lifting your exhaust up and down gently, then side to side slightly. If it's shakable, then its time to change,if its firm then no need to change bro..

Another way is that sometimes when u hit a hump, u will hear tick tick tick sort of sounds....and when going over carpark humps, its pretty loud.

Usually, the inside bearing for the lower swing arm needs regreasing, or is fully rusted already...its more expensive to go botak for this, ($220?) but the mod he does on it is pretty amazing..makes it last longer too. 3-5years, maybe?

Any of you guys know whether its possible to just change lighter/heavier rollers in the stock piaggio variator?

I want better pickup, and im willing to give up the top end for this...just not keen on replacing the whole variator and clutch to an after market one as once i have my 2a, i'll be giving this bike to my dad...and he will never ride above 60-70, even on open expressways.

bro Crasher69 & kenshi18_05 ,thanks for sharing. For changing lighter/heavier rollers can increase pick up or top end.But i don't recommand to mod like replace after market clutch, speed bell ,speed control etc...Due to wear and tear very fast.Best is stick to stock.I already try on my bike now want to change back to stock .

There's is kinda *kok* sound whenever I accelerate and close the throttle. On and off the sound comes.

It only occurs when I close throttle. Engine mounting affecting this?

Yeah man... COULD be the engine mounting... Mine used to be like that... After changing it, no more sound... Sounds like the rear wheel gonna come off right?

Piaggio OEM parts are the best and no aftermarket parts beats it...

X8 common problems are steering cone, mounting and water pump.

On avg, these OEM parts can last for abt 1.5-2 years if nothing go wrong. Lucky ones can last up to 2.5 years before changing.

That's why slight mod to the OEM parts can make it last longer :)

Of cos, maintaining the mod is also impt like greasing it during every oil change will be enough to make it last much longer. :)

while short term may seem expensive but longer term, it's actually cost saving. :)

bro titanic...

U might wanna try doing a coolant flush first...1/2 distilled water, and 1/2 distilled white vinegar. let the engine run for a few minutes, then flush with lots of water, then refill coolant. Engine Ice, maybe? 60 at Unique Motors.

Bro sgrider,

Nope. not intending to change the clutch at all, as gonna give the bike to my dad after i get my 2a. Thus looking for the cheapest option for higher pickup speed; ie installing after market lighter rollers in stock Piaggio variator.

bro firestorm, is this remotely possible? or do i have to change the whole variator set to mallossi multivar or pollini speed completely just to accomodate the lighter rollers?

and if any bros out there has tried this before, possible to fill me in on the results and costs involved?

Mounting don't change can results in - 1. cornering wobble/unstable

2. rear tyre wear off unevenly which means wear only 1 side and the other side still ok....

Steering cone - results in turning very tight.. which can cause accident to happen if it's stuck.

Coolant - i suspect 2 things- radiator not clean and system not flush.

- but of cos if u are stuck in a jam, then that's quite common cos no

air to cool mah....as long as fan got on, u are safe.

As for better pickup - few ways other than changing variator set.

1. changing rollers combination - as per u mentioned. Some changed to dr pulley which do help too.

2. air filter - u can change to those bullet filter which will help in air intake.

3. change exhaust.- personal preference- i would rather u change the exhaust 1st than the variator 1st as the exhaust has more advantages than the variator..... with a aftermarket exhaust, if u maintain your current way of riding, u will feel smoother and more powerful pickup and of cos better mileage....:) most of all better looking than the stock one :)

if you need standard unparellel pick up only, the Dr Pulley sliding rollers would be recommended bro..
